"Nice view?" Lex said from behind Lana as she peeked out from the storage room of the Talon.
"Lex!" Lana exclaimed, embarrassed and surprised, as she whipped around.
"May I see?" Lex said, his gaze alone forcing Lana to move.
"Ahh." Lex said as he peered out the doors. "Smallville's newest lovebirds. I take it this is the best view in the house?" Lex asked as he stepped away and shut the door.
"I don't WANT to look, but I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment."
"I know Chloe and Clark well enough to know they wouldn't have moved forward in their relationship if you hadn't approved."
"I did."
"So what's the problem?"
"I'm alone again." Lana smiled slightly at Lex's blank stare. "When I lost Whitney, I told Clark that everyone I ever cared for had left me. I've told Chloe all about my abandonment issues, because I know she understands."
Lex nodded slightly, remembering when Clark had told him about Chloe's mother and then tried to figure out how to make it up to her.
"So---one again, I'm alone. Even Pete has found a almost-steady girlfriend." Lana sighed, and then looked at Lex.
"I'm sorry. This must sound incredibly petty. I think I need to get back to work, wouldn't you?" Lana put another smile on and headed towards the door.
"Wait." Lex said, stepping calmly in front of the door.
"Yes?" Lana asked, suddenly aware of how closed off this room was.
"So now that everyone is taken care of romantically---what about us?"
"What about us, Lex? There's nothing I can do---you, on the other hand---"
"Just because I make good money doesn't mean love is any easier for me to find." Lex informed Lana, who blushed.
"Sorry." Lana apologized.
"Now there's no one left to please, I guess."
"I guess not. So I don't have to get up half an hour earlier to make myself look extra special for Clark or Whitney---"
"Lana, you always look beautiful." Lex replied. "But now I don't have to worry about matching the leather in my shoes to my belt."
"We've got no one to impress!" Lana said, smiling.
"But I'd still like a---what was it? Steady girlfriend?"
"They did call them that back in your day?" Lana teased.
"No. Any female who got within four feet of me was automatically a whore." Lex said in sudden seriousness.
"Whoa. I can see where that might cause a bit of a problem."
"But you're not a whore---and I'm within four feet of you." Lex said, stepping towards Lana.
"I like being here, thanks." Lana said, defiantly standing her ground.
"Good. I like it too." Lex said. "I like everything about you." Lex said as he bent down and placed a kiss on Lana's mouth. When Lana didn't move, Lex kissed her again, with a little more force. Lana responded fervently, opening her mouth to greet his well-maneuvering tongue.
When they broke apart, Lex tried to pull away, but Lana pressed her forehead to his.
"Do I have to get up early again?" Lana asked quietly.
"No. Now that I can kiss you whenever I want, I would suggest not wearing any lipstick at all." Lex grinned as Lana swept in to kiss him again.
