Kratos cleaned his blade on the grass while checking to see the extent of his injuries. He had a relatively deep cut down one arm, but other than that, he was fine. He took a step forward, and fell due to the blood loss and overall fatigue his body was facing. His vision swam, but he got up, determined to find Anna before he passed out. He had to make sure she was okay.
Kratos opened his eyes a little, and turned his head to one side. It was dark now, and a fire was crackling nearby. His right arm felt a little stiff, and he realized it was tightly bandaged. He tried to get up, and suddenly he heard a clatter of something drop and Anna was by his side.
"Don't get up." She said firmly.
"Anna, I really don't think this is necessary. I'll be fine, and we have to keep moving." He responded, again trying to get up. Anna placed her hand on his chest, trying to keep him from sitting up. When he sat up anyway, she got very angry.
"Kratos, why on earth do you always save me? It's not like I mean anything to you. Besides, you nearly gave me a heart attack when you passed out after the battle. I was so worried, you jerk! Never ever do that to me again! I thought you had died and that I was all alone again, and don't you dare try to interrupt me, Kratos Aurion, or I swear you will regret it! How dare you-"
Kratos acted on impulse instead of thinking his actions through. The result was while Anna had gotten very close to yell at him, he reached forward and kissed her. His left arm reached behind her back to pull her closer.
Anna was too shocked to react. Kratos, the man of stone, was kissing her.
After a moment, Kratos pulled away. Anna's eyes were still wide with shock, and she couldn't think of what to do next. Kratos took her expression and lack of response to be rejection.
"Anna, I'm sorry. Please forgive me, I didn't mean to-"
Now it was Anna's turn to interrupt, but unlike Kratos, she stopped him from talking by smacking him in the face.
Kratos put a hand to his face, touching the red mark from her hand. Now it was his turn to be shocked, because then Anna leaned forward and pressed her lips against his. She wrapped her arms around his neck to deepen the kiss, and after a moment, Kratos responded by rewrapping his arm around her. When they pulled away from each other, Anna looked at him very seriously and said, "Never apologize to me for kissing me."
Kratos smiled, and pushed her hair away from her face. "I love you, Anna. I swear I will never apologize for kissing you ever again."
Anna smirked. "Good. Now go to bed." And she lightly planted a small kiss on his lips. "How is my protector supposed to do his job without his rest?"
Kratos grinned as Anna got up. "Good night, Anna. I love you."
Anna turned around and replied, "Good night Kratos. I love you, too."
What do you think, too sappy? The fluffy plot bunnies attacked me the other say, so I had to write this. Please review!
