So this kinda just grew like a fungus.

My sister and I were having a discussion about her story The United States of Nothing and I ended up using the metaphor 'a captain goes down with his ship' while explaining some of the subtle nuances of her plot, and well... this happened. It's a fungus I tell you, a fungus.

Germany looked at his brother one day, a frown of confusion marring his usually stoic face.

"You know, bruder, I've always wondered something."

Prussia leaned against the bar top, smirk already in place and a cackle of laughter escaping from his lips. His red eyes were trained on the larger nation.

"Oh, has my awesomeness has finally caught your boring and mediocre attention?"

Germany sighed, ignoring the Prussian's inflated ego. "Why haven't you disappeared yet?"

Surprisingly, Prussia's seemingly constant smile faded from his face. "What do you mean, West? You want me gone?"

Germany was quick to backtrack. "Nein, I wouldn't want that." He avoided his gaze as he continued, struggling to keep his expression blank. "You may be annoying and frustrating, as well as clueless and conceited and irritating–"

"That's an awfully long list of negatives." The voice may have been mocking hurt, but Prussia's smirk was back in place.

"–and pestering and arrogant, but you are mein bruder. I would not want you gone."

Prussia leaned back in his seat, crossing in his legs and resting his chin atop his pale hand. He cocked his head slightly to the side and shot Germany an amused look.

"Then why, pray tell, are asking about my continued awesomeness?"

Germany frowned, returning Prussia's look with a disapproving stare. "Have you ever heard of the saying 'A captain goes down with his ship'?"

The Prussian hummed in recognition, looking perhaps slightly interested. "Of course I have."

Germany nodded seriously, the frown of confusion returning. "Well what happened to you? Your ship has long sunk," he said, swiftly turning the saying into a metaphor. "If you are the captain, why haven't you disappeared with it… if you don't mind me asking."

Now knowing the nature of the question, Prussia smiled widely. "Ah, you want to know why the awesome me decided to stay after the dissolution of my country?" It was a heavy statement, but the way in which Prussia said made it seem like just another joke.

Germany blinked once, eyeing his brother in surprise before mumbling his agreement.

Prussia chose this moment to laugh loudly and spread his arms wide in a show of amusement.

"Well you see, bruder, I decided to become the captain of a new ship." He smirked, thoroughly enjoying the use of the metaphor. "A ship called Awesomeness."

And without further ado, the albino grabbed his unfinished beer and stood up, flashing Germany one last wild smile before leaving the nation alone with his thoughts.

In the moments that followed the Prussian's abrupt departure, Germany found himself actually letting out a small laugh.

A ship called Awesomeness indeed.

So yeah, there you go. A little drabble of awesomeness. Please let me know what you think. Reviews are highly appreciated.
