"So there's this girl…" I began to James as we trekked up the small hill opposite his grandparent's house. It had taken two weeks wait at my…parents' 'mansion' before I escaped away with James and his family to the countryside just outside York. Two weeks of unbearable torture, in which my so-called-mother missed no opportunity to declare what a disgrace I was to the family. Little does she know that she wouldn't have to bare my painful presence much further; it was exactly one week now until my seventeenth, and I had planned that after this summer, I will not return…home so to speak, although my home has been, for the last five years, at Hogwarts. The only place I have ever felt at home, except when I stayed at James'.
"Do you think Lilly will finally…go out with me this year?" James interrupted nervously, absently ruffling his hair and staring broodingly at the ground, a faint worry crease appearing over his eyebrows. I sighed inwardly, wishing Lilly would see James just so he could be quiet about it. He had been obsessing madly the whole summer, and I, for one was sick of the interruptions.
"Maybe, but I was saying…" I continued, rolling my eyes with irritation, but James didn't notice. His frown deepened as he said-
"Maybe? What do you think I should do to…woo her over?" James asked with a roughish grin. I resisted the urge to reach for my wand and seal his mouth closed. Another week, Sirius, just another week.
