I slammed the door behind me and ran out into the rain. The red mark that Ron had left was stained with a mixture of tears and raindrops. I ran to the end of the street, where it met Diagon Alley and sat on the steps of a flat. It was sunrise, or it would have been if the rain stopped, so no one would be out. It wasn't long before I was shivering in my soaked nightgown. I rubbed my bruised arms in an attempt to keep warm, still crying.
Suddenly, the door behind me opened.
"Hermione, is that you?" asked a familiar voice. I stood up and turned around. I was face to face with Draco Malfoy. I quickly wiped the tears from my eyes with the back of my hand. "Are you okay?" He gingerly touched the stinging red mark on my cheek, causing me to flinch.
"I'm fine," I lied, pivoting on my heels. He grabbed my arms, twisting me back around and right into his arms. Before I knew what was happening, his lips were on mine. It was a tender, sweet kiss, not the rough drunk ones I was used to. My arms snaked around Draco's neck, and his found their way to my waist. Suddenly, I became aware that Draco's chest was bare, and one of my hands trailed down to rest on his chest. I felt him smile into the kiss before breaking away.
He was still smiling when he said, "I've wanted to do that for a long time."
