Prologue

It's been three years since the war ended. The wizarding world was still putting itself back together little by little, but it was progress. The war affected so many people, and not just witches and wizards, the muggles and muggle world were greatly affected by the reign and He-Who.. Umm.. Voldemort.

After the final battle, Kingsley, the new Minister of Magic, Offered Harry and Ron positions as Arors and Hermione was offered a position on his council which she refused. Harry and Hermione's new boyfriend Ron chose to not finish their education and to take the jobs as Arors, no surprise there as they never did much work anyways. Hermione finished school with top grades as Head Girl.

Now here she is, three years later working her way up to head healer, living in a small but beautiful new home, and getting ready for Harry and Ginny's wedding. As she was putting the finishing touches on her makeup, the doorbell rang. She flew from the powder room and opened the door, there stood her dashing date, Ronald Weasly. He had matured some since the final battle, he was tall and thin, he was wearing his new dress robes that Fred and George had gotten him and his hair was actually combed!

Hermione smiled at him, she could do worse she supposed. Society expected them to marry someday, she could get used to the idea. They never officially became official, he never asked her to be his girlfriend and she never mentioned it to him. They just were.

Ron coughed. "Hermione, can we sit down for a minute?". This scared Hermione, this could either mean a proposal or breaking up, she didn't want either at this moment. Smile plastered to her face she led him to her little sitting area. "what's up?". Ron's eyes flitted across the room. Not a good sign, she thought. "Mione, the last three years have been great" oh shit please no... "But I don't think things are working out between us..." his voice drifted. Hermione sat there in absolute shock! She had expected a proposal, not this, she knew they probably shouldn't be together but this was the worst time for anyone to say that! "well, Ronald, if that is how you feel I'll ask you to leave so that I may floo to your sisters wedding, I shall see you there." With that, Ron stood up, and walked out the door without a backwards glance.

Still in shock over what jus happened, she picked up her handbag and put some waterproof mascara and eyeliner in it, walked to her fireplace and mumbled the words "the Burrow" and off she went.
