Pepper was sitting by the window feeling sad and depressed. All the other pets asked her what was wrong but she didn't say a word to them, she didn't even say anything to Captain Cuddles.
"I'm getting very worried about Pepper." Captain Cuddles said.
"We all are, but Pepper won't tell us what's wrong." Zoe said.
"Maybe something happened with her owner." Minka said.
"Or maybe someone stole her props." Sunil said.
"Or maybe she has some sort of disease on her!" Vinnie said.
"Yeah, I don't think that's it." Russell said.
"It could be." Vinnie said.
"Sill don't think so." Russell said.
"Well, can we at least cheer her up?" Penny Ling said.
"I guess we could try that." Russell said.
"I'll cheer her up with one of my paintings." Minka said.
"I can do a magic trick." Sunil said.
"I think I may know how." Captain Cuddles said. He walked over to Pepper and looked at her. "Pepper, I know you won't tell us why you're sad. But can I at least try to cheer you up?"
Pepper didn't turn around to face him, she just nodded her head a little and continued staring at the window.
"Wonderful." He said then brought out a guitar and started playing it.
Pepper heard the music and turned around.
"He's going to sing to her." Penny Ling said quietly.
"How sweet." Minka said quietly.
Captain Cuddles smiled and sang, "I know you're feeling down and blue, and I wish that I could help you. But even though I don't know the problem, that doesn't mean I can't make you happy...Sweet Pepper, what's bringing you down? I wanna turn your frown upside down. I miss see that smile on your face every time you make a funny joke. Haha! Sweet Pepper...tell me your pain, so I can make it better. I hate seeing you all depressed, it hurts me more than you. Don't be sad, be glad, I'll always be here for you, my sweet Pepper...Yeah."
"Wow Captain Cuddles, that was beautiful. Did you make all that up and meant every word?" Pepper asked.
"Yes, I did." He said.
She smiled sweetly and said, "Sorry I didn't respond to you before, I was upset because I thought you didn't like me after your last visit here."
"Pepper, of course I like you. I always did, even if you punched me in the arm twice." He said.
Pepper laughed a little and said, "Yeah, that was kind of silly of me."
"...Besides, even if I didn't, would I do this?" He said then passionately kissed her on the lips. Pepper's eyes widen in shock, then she closed her eyes, melted into the kiss and kissed him back.
All the other pets awed and were so happy for the couple.
"They make such a cute couple." Sunil said.
"They sure do." Vinnie said.
