*And She Asked*

In the midst of a war, one girl tries to find herself...and about the people left behind.

And she asked him, 'Did you know Mandy?'

He smiled, but not a nice smile. 'Mandy...Ravenclaw...our year?'

'Yes. Did you know her?'

'Everyone knew Mandy. I kissed her and she blushed.'

Everyone knew Mandy.  She was precious.  She died in the sunlight.

And she asked her, 'Didn't you know Dean?'

She must've laughed.  'I loved Dean. I always loved Dean.'

'Dean died.'

'I heard. I loved Dean. I always loved Dean.'

Dean was a good kid. Really.  He only played bad.

And she asked him, 'Maybe you knew Marcus.'

'Yeah, I knew him. What do you want, kid?'

'The truth. Start telling.'

'There is nothing left to tell.'

Marcus knew a lot of information about the dark side. And he harbored bad feelings for everyone but one person. No one knows who that one person is...or was.

And she asked her, 'Did you know Hannah?'

She smiled, and found a wink through her tears. 'I knew everyone who died in the war.'

'Did you know...'

'Yes. I knew all of them. 'Specially the boys.'

Hannah was a true Hufflepuff.  She never wanted anything bad to happen to anyone.  She loved the color red.

And she asked him, 'Did you know Lavender?'

He took a deep breath, just for play, 'wasn't that cutie your best friend?'

'Maybe.  A long time ago.'

'She was a lot of fun.'

Lavender had one thing on her mind: beauty.  Nailpolish, lipgloss and mascara galore.  And most importantly...the beauty of the human soul.

And she asked him 'Did you know Justin?'

He laughed and touched her hand. 'Yeah, 'course I did.'

'Do you miss him?'

'I miss all of them, maybe even you...'

Justin had a grave made of marble. And the sky welcomed him. And everyone wept.

And she asked her 'Did you know Cho?'

The girl wiped away a crystal tear, 'My boyfriend was always after her. Drove me mad.'

'She died when she was just nineteen.'

'So did my boyfriend.'

Cho didn't know anything about regular people.  She loved a Hufflepuff boy, once. And she really died after he did.

And she asked her, 'Did you know Draco?'

She winced.  'Oh God, don't remind me.'

'He wasn't so bad.'

'Be quiet.'

Draco was brilliant. He loved girls. And he loved Pansy the most, well, maybe not most...

And she asked him, 'Did you know Harry?'

Big smiles. Big frown. 'Ya, I knew him.'

'He was a hero.'

'They were all heroes.'

They were all heroes.  All desperately wanting to be someone special. But Harry was the biggest hero, and everyone else fell into place.

In the midst of a war, one girl found herself...and lived for the people left behind.
