Tick Tock.
He just wanted a little more time.
based off of keith, the best movie in the entire existence of everything /sobs
; I stare at the walls and nothing at all ;
He stares at his watch in anticipation.
Five minutes.
Five minutes until the timer rang, five minutes until the lethal injection was searing through his veins.
Five minutes left before he met death.
Four,
Blowing out air from his cheeks, he tapped his foot as he stared over the bittersweet city, wondering if he had anyone left to miss him.
Why was he dying? Like he knew. Everyone had a timer; everyone died. Some people were just ahead of the game, that was all.
Natsu was just in the AP class of life.
He smiled at the thought, though it soon was outweighed by dread. He had already said his goodbyes and accepted the fact that he was ending.
Yet why were his hands shaking?
Gripping the safety bar, he let out another shaky breath, his lungs suddenly tight. He tried clearing his thoughts, but that only allowed worse thoughts in.
He forced himself to smile. He should be proud, making it this far. Some people died at the simple age of oh-one, so to make it this far was an achievement.
A small achievement, but an achievement none-the-less.
Three,
Acceptance slowly entered his body as he relaxed, gaze softening as he watched the lights glitter.
Two,
This was it. It was over. He finished his purpose.
One,
Goodbye.
"Natsu!" She screamed as loud as she could, ripping through the silence of the outlook. He nearly jumped, eyes reopening to find someone he had least expected.
"Lucy?" He whispered, watching as his best friend raced towards him, panic on her face.
She hadn't talked to him in a week, and here she was?
"Natsu," She whimpered, pulling him into an endearing hug. He stayed in her arms, thoroughly shocked.
"Natsu, Natsu, Natsu." She pulled and twisted at him, just wanting to remember the feel of him. She pulled back enough to look him in the eye before leaning forward, smashing her mouth against his.
The feel and taste was absolute perfection. He felt his body reacting slower than his lips as they molded together, his hands now the one pulling and twisting, the dread once again filling his stomach.
And then he felt it.
The small prick on his wrist, the absolute excruciating pain following as the toxin entered his bloodstream.
But he didn't care about that. Just for a moment, he forgot. He stood there, kissing the girl he had been crushing on since the third grade, and just let it go.
And then that moment was over, and he was leaning on her for his entire support, the pain grabbing at his heart.
"I love you, I love you," Was all she whispered, her mantra filling his eyes with tears. Sluggishly, he turned to meet her gaze, black eyes pooling into brown.
Lucy. Lucy. Lucy.
"I love you so much." He groaned, falling to his knees. She put a hand over her mouth to suppress her sobs, her body racking with the tremors.
His own body shuttered, yet it was for an entirely different reason. She collapsed right next to him, arms looped around his neck. She pulled him as close as she could, fingers weaving through his hair.
"It'll be okay. I love you, Natsu. I don't care how long we have; I'm staying with you." She promised, but her words were shaky at best. She tugged and kneaded through his hair, comforting him through the pain.
He pulled back to give her one last look, the hand around his heart finally clenching. With a sincere smile, he fell to his side, cold.
And she sat there for a moment, glassy eyed, staring at nothing at all.
And finally, she allowed a tear to fall.
Zero.
maybe a sequel ?
