If I could read Sherlock's mind, what would he be thinking?

That man is a maze of mystery.

He hides all his thoughts deep within the crevices of his subconsciousness.

He only speaks about what is direct and relevant.

Brilliant, he is. Nothing short of brilliant.

Fantastic, one might say.

But is there something more?

Well, of course there is. There's always more to Sherlock.

If he were to tell you, "The sky is a lovely colour today," one could only imagine what he's really thinking.

What he really means.

Context is key when trying to decipher Sherlock's mind.

You must take everything into context.

Oh, who am I fooling?

Why even try to even begin to dissect the inner workings of his brain,

When Heaven knows that you'll never get more out of him

Than what he wants you to know?

He's beyond clever in that sense.

But I would imagine that he's not so clever in some areas of social interactions.

Friendship, for example.

He hasn't got a single friend outside of the workplace.

I'm not sure if he's even got friends in the workplace.

He never goes out to dinner with anybody,

Or to any parties at work.

I think he attended last year's Christmas party,

But he left halfway through.

He claimed that he had a headache.

Headache?

Honestly?

But sometimes, I dare to let myself think about other emotions that Sherlock is clueless about.

And strangely, sooner or later, the emotion that always comes to mind is love.

Has he ever had a girlfriend?

I've been too afraid to ask.

Is he even interested in girls?

I once heard him say that he doesn't want affairs with women because it's "too much of a distraction."

Or something like that.

I've even wondered if he's asexual,

But then there's Irene to think about.

And Molly as well.

Did he not feel for them?

Sometimes I think he's gay.

But that can't be.

But sometimes, I can't help but assume.

He willingly agreed to room with me in the flat, first of all. He didn't even try to weasel out of it. He was perfectly compliant. Which is odd. That's the first clue.

And the second clue is this: people assume we're gay all the time.

Sometimes, they even talk to Sherlock about it.

"Well, I heard that you and John Watson have moved in together.

You seem very happy together."

And when they mention us like that, in a relationship, he never denies it.

He just brushes it off with that little half-smile that I would kill for to see more often.

But it's just wishful thinking, I always tell myself when these kind of thoughts pop up. Just wishful thinking.

And I can't help but wonder…

If I could read Sherlock's mind,

Would he be thinking about me?
