Even though we are dead and gone, my love for you will still live on. Eric grabbed Alan's now cold and stiff hand. A single tear rolled down his cheek already soaked with memories of the recent past. He wished he could have been a better person for Alan. If only he could have collected that one last soul. But now all he had done was useless and meaningless. Now he would never see Alan smile ever again. He would now have a lingering after image of Alan's bright light. Because Alan was dead. Now they would never be together. And it was his fault! Sebastian picked up Alan's discarded death scythe. Eric found it very fitting that he would be killed with the weapon of the man he loved whom he had just killed mercilessly. And yet he was terrified by the prospect of death. But he fully accepted that this would be the only punishment severe enough for the crime he had just felt the bite of the cold metal slice through his skin and his soul flow from his exhausted body. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the face of an extremely confused Will. "Sorry Will, I couldn't save Alan. Thank you both." Eric said as he felt his life slipping away from him. Alan was the one who should have survived. He knew from that he was going to be caught and killed but Alan still would have lived.
Eric saw the same light that Alan had seen only minutes earlier. As he looked into the warm glow of this portal he saw Alan walking towards him. "I'm sorry" Eric said letting another tear slip down his cheek. Alan smiled a familiar smile of admiration then he calmly embraced a sobbing Eric. "Why are you crying? I completely forgive you! I also...also" Eric braced himself ready for Alan to say he hated him. "I also love you" Alan finally said. Eric looked up from the spot on the floor that he had been staring at with a look of suprise mixed with happiness. "I love you too! I have since the first time Will brought you into my office! " Eric said quietly. Alan smiled then he took Eric's hand and kissed him lightly on the cheek. "Come on lets go. In the light we can be together again." Alan whispered to Eric. Then, holding hands, they walked together into the calming light. They would finally be together.
