Well, it's certainly been a while, hasn't it? Unfortunately, my computer is broken, and my internet is screwed, and so I must avail of the computer and internet from my dear bestie. And we should all take a moment to thank her for supplying you all with my yaoi. So, this one has been in my notebook for quite a while, and surprisingly enough it's not Grelliam. Because I went for GrellTaker instead. So, read, enjoy and review.

Disclaimer: I don't own anything, though I do cosplay both of these characters.

You Choose The One

The Cheshire Cat was not moping. No, he was just... not smiling as he usually would. He was too busy for that, too busy floating around the dark forest, vanishing here and there, questioning the need to smile.

"And what have I to smile for?" he asked himself, half of him perched on a tree, while the rest hovered nearby. "My love has left. My dear white rabbit. He does not want me or my smile, and while I cannot get rid of myself entirely, I can most certainly forsake my grin. Perhaps that would make him smile?" he mused, becoming more and more bewildered. Then again, he had heard a tale that the mad were easily confused. It was probably the Dormouse's tail. That one was always spreading rumours, nuisance of a thing, not like Cheshire's tail.

"One as pretty as yourself should remain whole for the most part, don't you think?" Cheshire was pulled from his thoughts by the musical voice of the Hatter, who seemed to be laughing at him, yet at the same time, he was entirely serious.

"I am about as whole as my sanity, my darling Hatter, and we're all mad here."

The Hatter chuckled softly, perching on a mushroom as he gazed at his companion. "But that is neither here nor there, m'dear, not in Wonderland."

"No, but nor am I."

The pair sat in a comfortable silence for a while, the Hatter as insouciant as ever, the Cheshire Cat taking a moment to study him. He and the Hatter had been acquainted for a number of years, friends even, yet the Cat could never tell what was on the man's mind, or, what was left of it at least.

"You choose the one that loves you, not the one you love."

Well, that was unexpected. Cheshire opened his mouth , then closed again, at complete loss for words. It was not the kind of statement the Hatter would normally make, but it made sense, in a kind of a roundabout way.

"But, Hatter... How am I supposed to know the difference?"

"I had thought it obvious, dear Ches," the Hatter stated, pressing his lips chastely against Cheshire's mirthful grin.

No, the Cheshire Cat was not moping, not anymore. After all, who needed to love a rabbit, when you had a hatter to love you more?

The End.
