A/N: Yeah, I'm back. I've been out of inspiration, for, oh, a month? So, in an attempt to cure writer's block, I present this drabble. Flames are welcome.

Duty Calls

For Those Chosen by the Goddesses, duty was what their life meant. It was Wisdom and Courage's job to protect the people. It was Power's duty to make them protect the people.

Link stood at the altar, waiting for the music to start. Indeed, it was time for Wisdom's duty (and perhaps Courage) to be fulfilled.

The music started, and soon Princess Zelda Harkinian, Heir to the Throne of Hyrule, processed down the aisle on the arm of her father.

Sometimes, you'd have to give up personal wants for the call of duty. Abandoning personal wants had seemed to be a regular part of the Chosen Ones' lives.

Link couldn't help but smile as Zelda reached the altar and gave her father a hug. She turned to face the priest, her eyes watery and full of sadness.

After quite a lengthy speech, Link turned to the Princess.

"Do you, Zelda Ariana Harkinian of Hyrule, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband? Will you stand by this man through sickness, health, and love?"

"I do."

"Do you, Damien Jahones Elibian of Holodrum, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife? Will you stand by this woman through sickness, health, and love?"

"I do."

"Then, by the power vested in me as the Hero of Time, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

As the couple locked lips, Link couldn't help but shed a tear as the crowd cheered. The Prince and Princess turned to the aisle and walked out the Temple of Time's doors. The one true love of his life was gone forever.

Duty calls. And sometimes, you have to make sacrifices.

A/N: Poor Link! R&R, if you get the opportunity.
