Oblivion - Chapter 1: The Nightmare
Sometimes I wonder... Why things the way they are...
. . . . . .
Do you know…? Do you… know why everything here is like it is?

"..."
"Haruka. Wake up. Come on, get out of bed already!"
"Aaahhh!"
A frightened Haruka jumped out of bed with a cold sweat pouring down her face.
"You look scared. Did you not sleep well?" said Satoshi, concerned-looking.
"I... I was just having a bad dream. That's all," she said with a smile.
"Well, come on. We're going to be late for the tournament!"
Satoshi and Haruka were both competing in a special tournament where Pokémon coordinators and battlers come together for the grand title of Master of the Decade. The tournament consists of 16 battlers and coordinators who face off against trainers in their respective fields in rounds building up to a final match, where one battler and one coordinator face off in a very special type of battle.
Haruka and Satoshi both walked together to catch up with Takeshi, who was their escort to the tournament.
"Hey, where have you guys been? I've been waiting for almost an hour," Takeshi said.
"Well, Haruka kind of... slept in," Satoshi excused.
"We don't have time to debate. Let's go!"
The three strolled down the road, headed for their tournament. Haruka was deeply seated in thinking over her strategy plan for the tournament, thinking of how a contest-gym pseudo-battle would even work. While she was lost in thought, Satoshi startled her suddenly.
"Whaaa...!?"
"I'm sorry, I just wanted to tell you..." Satoshi muttered
"Tell me what? What is it?"
"It seems you're probably thinking about this too much,"
"No, I'm fine. Don't worry about me," she quickly responded.
She walked off with an overconfident puff in her chest, acting like she had no worry with the competition. Takeshi realized how nervous she was, and walked over to her.
"Hey, what's the matter?" said Takeshi in a calming voice.
"...I don't know. Maybe I'm just too nervous to compete," said Haruka.
"Nervousness is going to wreck your performance. That said, I advise you to calm yourself, or you might be costing yourself something bigger than mere anticipation."
"Well, isn't that sweet?" Haruka said, smirking.
She nearly bumped into Satoshi in attitude, with a high expression towards Takeshi.
"...I didn't mean anything by that!" he said, sighing. His raised finger fell, as if giving up.
A/N: This was originally going to be a oneshot, but the ideas for what I could make out of this practically exploded after I said that. So, expect some more content in a week or two (that's how long it took me to write this - a little each day).
