Beautiful Mistake

A/N: If you wanted to know how everything in The Letter happened, this is it. If you want an ending to this, Beautiful Mistake, then read The Letter. Yes, it's a prequel! Get over it.

But, if you're an angst addict (like I am), and you don't want a happy ending, don't read The Letter. This can stand alone.

The quotes are excerpts from the song lyrics of 'Beautiful Mistake' by The Ataris. Yeah, we know, the lyrics are copyrighted to them, as is Harry Potter to J.K. Rowling, but, a girl can dream, right?

Maybe I'm not ready for this, and you know it.
Maybe I'm too scared to tell you what I'm really thinking
It's not fair to stay together because of regrets we might have.
I don't want to fall asleep alone, but do I want to wake up with you?

Grey eyes flickered open. Draco sighed and glanced at the sleeping form next to him.

Curling a pale arm around Harry's waist, he wondered how it had come to this. It didn't really take much thinking – which was good, because it was fairly early in the morning.

Draco sighed again. Harry made a small noise in his throat and inched nearer, closing the space between them.

Softly pressing a kiss to Harry's forehead, Draco kept wondering: if he knew it was completely, utterly, and totally wrong, then why did it feel so very right?

So I guess this is the ending or a beautiful mistake.
And if we both agree that we shouldn't be together why does it hurt so much?
I feel like I lost my closest friend.
I don't want to fall asleep alone, but do I want to wake up with you?
I hope you're happy and completely lonely.

Harry stirred slightly and opened one eye a fraction. Draco was stunned by even just the slit of vivid green visible between his eyelids.

"Mornin'," Harry murmured, opening both his eyes and yawning widely. He smiled a sleepy, crooked, inviting smile that Draco knew was just for him.

Draco grinned in reply as Harry ran a hand through his dark sleep- and sex-mussed hair.

Harry is so beautiful, he mused, leaning his head on Harry's tanned chest. It really is a pity we only started this now, seeing as I have to leave tonight.

Harry smiled, completely oblivious to Draco's thoughts…
