Hi! I'm Sports990, as you may know. This is a story about Percy and Annabeth's encounter with the Sirens. Constructive criticism is welcome, as are nice reviews!

Everything Goes Back to the Sea

She shouldn't be crying, she thought to herself. She is a strong, independent girl who has no need for tears. They are only a waste of time and energy.

Yet, here she sits, sobbing uncontrollably on the bottom of the ocean in an air bubble, with Percy holding her.

Percy…he is a great friend for her. He is strong and loyal, and unpredictable. They can easily laugh and smile together, but just as easily started screaming at each other. They change emotions like the tides change.

Over the past few weeks, she has felt herself falling for him. Falling for him in a way she swore to herself never to do again.

When she was little, she had told herself that she would never love a man. She had no need for them. She used to think they were a waste of space.

When she had come home from pre-school one day, her father had asked her if she had a crush on anyone.

She looked at him incredulously. "Why would I have a crush on anyone? Relationships never work out."

Her father had looked at his four year old daughter, who was beyond her age in maturity, and had no words for her. He knew where she got her intelligence from-her mother, Athena, but she did not know that she was a half-blood yet.

However, when she ran away, she met Luke.

Her will had crumpled. He was just so handsome and caring; it was hard for anyone not to fall for him.

But then he betrayed her. Betrayed her and everyone she cared about. Now he had poisoned Thalia's tree. The tree that protects the camps borders. She never thought he would sink so low, but he had. So, she resolved her problems by promising herself never to fall or anyone else.

But then she met Percy. He was so caring and handsome as well. He seemed to care about her, yet she couldn't be sure, just as you can never be sure of how the tides will crash into shore. She was trying in vain not to fall for him as well.

Her mind swirled with thoughts, just like the churning of the sea.

She sobbed and sobbed onto the shoulder of the boy she has desperately trying not to fall for, yet again, her will was tumbling down, like a wave crashing down on her head, bringing shells and sediment with it. Bringing trouble, yet happiness.

To her, it seemed like he did care about her, yet so had Luke…or so she had thought. Now, she wasn't sure of anything.

Nothing made sense to her anymore, so a fresh wave of tears came over her like a wave in the ocean. She let them tumble down, and Percy's arms pulled her closer. He ran his hand down her hair, and gently rocked back and forth. Back and forth like the currents of the sea.

For now they are just friends. Friends and nothing more. But the future may bring something different and unexpected, just like the shells the sea uncovers.

Everything goes back to the sea.
