Lorcan Scamander took another swig of his energy drink as he sent more sparks flying towards the frog he was experimenting on this time. From across the room Lucy Weasley watched, admiring the way his blonde hair lit up every time pink sparks flew from his wand and the way his blue eyes reflected the light perfectly.

He didn't notice - as ever he was immerged in his work. He hardly ever left his room, constantly working on some new project, and she didn't think she'd ever heard him say more than five words, but it didn't bother Lucy, whenever her family came around to the Scamader's she would spend as much time as possible just watching him.

It did, however, bother Molly Weasley, who was completely sick of watching her little sister pining away, which is why when Lucy felt a sharp push on her back, finding herself flying into Lorcan Scamader's room she automatically knew that even though Potter was the one who'd pushed her, her sister was behind it. Unfortunately she didn't have time to confront either of them because Lorcan had looked up from his work with shock, finally noticing the world around him.

"What's going on?" He asked.

"Lucy was just admiring you." She heard James say behind her and she felt herself flush bright red.

"I wasn't… I, uh… was just… wondering what you were doing."

"And she was wondering if you'd take her on a date," James added smartly.

Lucy put her head in her hands.

"Is that right?" Lorcan asked, not looking remotely fazed, just slightly curious. Why couldn't she be like that?

"I was just-"

Lorcan nodded. "It is right then. Okay – you, me, Hogsmede," he said and turned back to his frog.

Lucy's eyes widened and she felt rather incapable of speech as she turned to look at James whose jaw was practically on the floor.

"When?" She asked, hoping that the boy was serious.

"Tonight," James said behind her, "They've cancelled the party. We're having it on Saturday instead."

"Tonight then," Lorcan said, not looking up.

Lucy grinned. "Okay," she said and ran off to find Molly. She needed to get ready. A date. With Lorcan Scamander. She had never loved her cousin or her sister so much in her life.
