A Silly Crush (One-Shot)

Christmas that year was most probably the best ever.

Together, they sat on the couch in their Head dorm, watching the flames in the fireplace flicker rapidly.

They exchanged stories about their childhoods they hadn't already told each other, making the other laugh wholeheartedly or making themselves blush when they remembered.

For the two weeks, they barely ventured outside of their dorm.

Content in being alone, sealed away from the rest of the world, they ate marshmallows and drank hot chocolate when it was cold.

The few times they left the privacy of their dorms were to fight in the snow.

She always managed to get the first and last hit. And every hit in-between. He was always far too overwhelmed by the sight of her smiling face, laughing happily.

The simple thought of her made him smile broadly.

He knew he loved her, but she didn't.

Those two weeks were the cherry on the cake for her.

Her beloved and she always made sure to make time to curl up together in front of the fire, just so they could say anything while they ate roasted marshmallows.

She ate them hot, he ate them cold.

At first, whenever she ate a cold marshmallow, he'd kiss her just for the hell of it.

After a few days though, she ate them on purpose, smiling innocently at her boyfriend of 8 months.

He'd simply grin at her and kiss her. It became a tradition for the two.

At first, it was at dusk. But then, they realised the stars weren't visible then.

From then on, every day, at midnight, they'd eat marshmallows, both hot and cold.

She knew many things about him. She knew it was no longer a crush – which she'd had since her 1st year.

She was in love with him, and he didn't know it.

The weeks after Christmas break were awkward.

Although nothing had happened, it was fairly obvious to the pair that they needed to talk.

However, try as they might, they couldn't make a hole in their busy schedules big enough. They had to accept it, they both knew being Head Girl and Boy wasn't going to be easy.

Luckily, mid-January, they both had a free weekend.

Making sure to order the portrait to not let anyone in or pass any messages or anything of the sort, they settle on the sofa.

"So... I've got something to tell you..." He said.

"Well. I need to tell you something." She said at the same time as him.

"I'm just going to tell you now."

"I'll tell you, NOW."

"I'm in love with you Mione."

"I'm in love with you Harry."

They both looked at each other surprised before leaning in for a soft but sweet kiss.

They never knew they'd end up hopelessly in love with each other, because of a silly crush.
