This is not a story of a siren girl who fell in love with a colt on the land. In fact, it is quite the opposite.

My name is Coral Diamond, princess of a small kingdom, located in the area know to the ponies of our neighboring nation, as the Undiscovered West. As you might have guessed, they do not yet know of our nation, which comes as surprise to me, considering we have traded with their princesses for many years.

My kingdom is surrounded by the ocean on all sides but one, and the capital is right by the ocean, so I grew up loving the sea. Of course, we all knew that the sea held many dangers, including the Sirens. Growing up, I could always hear them singing, but fortunately for me, I was never lured to a watery death, like so many sailors. In fact, sailors from the kingdom were told to not sail at night, or at least to wear earplugs. All these rules were because of what happened to my mother.

My father, King Diamond Blitz, had been married to my mother, Queen Eclipse Opal, for some time when I was born. I do not remember my mother very well, but I remember her dark mane stood out from her light blue coat. And I remember that she would sing to me the some of the songs that the sirens sang, which she had written down when I couldn't sleep.

And then the unthinkable. On a trip to Saddle Arabia, while everypony else was asleep, my mother was lured into the ocean by the songs she had loved. My father, full of grief and rage enacted the Siren Laws, which forbade the singing of siren songs, swimming past the reef, or sailing without proper protection, ever again. Of course, I was always a more rebellious filly, and I broke these rules often, minus the sailing one, without getting caught.

I even have a secret spot in my room where I have a collection of seashells, fish bones, and other items that I have obtained from the ocean, that if my dad saw, would make him extremely angry.

But I always make sure to avoid any sirens, which are rare to see these days, that is, until I met the siren prince.
