Chapter one

The green light. It was that man's curse. I have always hated green lights after that summer. I have called that summer the season of the yellow death. I came into the workplace of guardian of that man named Jay Gatsby. More of an enigma, really. I had many names by that point keeping my real one a mystery to all except one. Gatsby. For this my name will be Lunetta Gatsby. I took the name when the end of that summer, the season of that hideous yellow death. My love for that color never returned because of that summer.

I remember sitting with Nick in that room as he wrote away at his book. The novel of that summer became the all american novel Nick always wanted to write. I always visited him until he got out and went back to the palace and I remember joining him on the dock."What will happen to this place once we all die?"Nick had said as he looked over his shoulder towards me. I told him the truth that day as I will tell you now.

I was twenty-four looking for a house on long island to have as a summer home in America. Finding the corpse of a home that was at a point a glowing place of a time long since forgotten. I bought it and fixed it up within a few weeks thanks to my family's position as protectors of those shimmering royals who paid greatly for our services. Later on that last day of fixing up both that glorious manison and the small little gardener's cottage next door I found this little pool the water oddly clear so I could see the pendant at the bottom floating aimlessly. I, not thinking, leaned too close over the end and fell into that cold water.

I thought in that instant I was dying. My pale, small hand clutching at the pendant. The circular pendant had a sun with JG carved into a circular disk the size of a quarter. Until two pairs of hands pulled me up and out of the water. I welcome each breath of air like an old friend. I noticed only now was it dusk. The curious thing is it was noon when I fell into the pool. Then a voice of a man hit my ears with all the warmth of whiskey. "Well Old Sport are you alright? My apologies to you since I hadn't noticed you earlier." I looked up to see the man in question. He was like my oppisite in every way. Blond hair neat and short, fit, and in a nice blue suit. He had these blue eyes that seemed to warm anyone in their gaze. I nodded my blue tinted black hair not bothering to move from my face. He motioned for the servants holding me up to bring me to the concrete. "M-my c-co-coat p-pl-please." I managed to get out due the chill the water seemed to be made of. It somehow was in a chair beside the pool.

The golden haired man smiled at me and nodded as well. When we got to the edge of the pool the servants and the man got me onto the concrete and standing. I had never missed something so mundane in my life.I nearly fell back into the clear menace. Luckily the man caught me before I could. "My apologies to you again Old Sport I haven't even introduce myself yet. How rude of me so please forgive me Old Sport. My name is Jay Gatsby."He said with that smile as he kissed my hand. He wrapped my leather jacket around my shoulders and asked me if I was that bodyguard he sent for. I knew I wasn't in the right time period somehow but still took the job. He welcomed me in from the dusk and into the mansion.
