Prologue
"I'm afraid there's no choice in the matter," the man said. The boy in front of him, Allen Walker, stared blankly.
"What," he said. Cross Marian slowly smirked and Allen gulped, inching away. There was that mischievous glint in the man's single eye that always spoke of no good. Whenever that spark appeared, it usually ended up with Allen emotionally and mentally traumatized.
Cross fished out a small hammer from inside his coat. Allen stared at it and felt a deep foreboding. He mentally noted that Cross was standing in front of the door and the only window in the room was just behind him. "Master? You're not going to…hit me with that are you…?" Dread filled Allen's small body as Cross chuckled. It was an evil, evil sound. I knew it… He miserably moved backwards to the window discreetly.
Cross spoke and moved closer. "As you know my dear Idiot Boy, because of your stupidity, the Noah has been catching up to us."
"That is hardly my fault!" Allen protested. "….And I'm not an idiot," he added as somewhat of an afterthought. He squeaked when Cross glared at him. The man hated being interrupted.
"Uh huh. Right. Well, I'm going to have to cover our tracks for a bit, thanks to you. That will take a while. My precious time will be wasted so be thankful that I'm even doing this in the first place. And there's also something I need to do so I need you to lay low for a while."
Allen narrowed his silver eyes. That sounded suspicious. "You just can't tell me and leave like a normal person instead of knocking me out?" His master cackled.
"Now where's the fun in that?"
Allen inched away some more. Cross Marian stepped forward closer. The hammer rose. Somehow, Allen had a gut feeling that this time, something not good was going to happen if that hammer connected with his head.
His feelings were usually right. He gulped.
He pleaded, "Please think about this -!"
And as usual, Cross ignored him.
"Stay here, or leave, you can do whatever. Just remember to pay off my debts. You can catch up to me later when I send for you. I'll leave Timcanpy with you to make sure your stupidity doesn't get you into anymore trouble."
"Wait! Stop –"
The hammer descended. Ow, Allen thought and everything went black.
