Help Me

Mia and Ike jogged down the path that led to the Crimean capital. Their job was to scout ahead for the others so the mercenaries could get there without delay. This should have been an easy job. Little did they know that that was not to be.

Ike came to a sudden stop. "Damn it," he muttered as he looked around.

"What is … oh," said Mia quietly as she saw what Ike was talking about.

Up ahead of them there was a fork in the road. Ike had his characteristic frown on as he surveyed the seen.

"I would rather we didn't get separated," said Ike to himself.

"Aww it's sweet that you care for me but I think I can take care of myself," said Mia playfully," After all I am one of your best soldiers."

That caused a smile to break through the frown on Ike's face.

"Fine," he said," but meet me back here in an hour or I'll come looking for you."

Ike then, to Mia's surprise, wrapped her in a tight hug and kissed her.

"Be careful," he said softly in her ear," I don't want to lose you after just a few months being back together."

Mia smiled at him and he could tell it was real this time. She lightly returned the kiss and said in an undertone," I will."

Mia had been walking down the path remembering an event that had happened about three months previously.

Flashback

Mia had gone to Phoenicis hoping to visit her friends in the hawk nation. It had been two and a half years since the last war. When she had gotten there she had discovered that the nation's reconstruction was going well. Naesala had been forgiven for his past crimes when the blood pact was discovered. The King of the Crows had ever since been trying help in any way possible.

A few weeks after her arrival Mia found herself on the southern cliff that protected the island with Tibarn, Janaff, Naesala, and Reyson. The five friends gazed at the sinking sun and talked about the peace that had settled over Tellius. Suddenly Naesala stiffened.

"What," he asked nobody in particular, "is that."

Looking toward the horizon Mia could see a small…well she didn't know what it was. It was just a small dot on the horizon. In fact if the dying sun hadn't outlined it they probably wouldn't have seen it. Janaff squinted.

"I…It's a ship!" he said in excitement.

"What colors is she flying?" asked Reyson nervously.

"It's hard to tell," said Janaff anxiety written all over his face, "she's…ooohh damn."

They all saw it, the ship was there one moment, but then the sun sunk all the way and the companions lost sight of it. Tibarn was up and ready instantly.

"Not good," he said, his commanding aura returning instantly to him.

"Janaff," said Tibarn in a harsh tone, "go get Ulki and several others and report back here!"

Janaff nodded and flew off.

"What is it?" asked Mia looking at Tibarn and Naesala, "I mean it's just a ship…isn't it?

"The thing is my young beorc," said Naesala, placing a hand on Mia's shoulder, "there hasn't been a ship coming from that direction in over 400 years."

"And the one that did," said Reyson, picking up the tale, "brought a group of pirates that ravaged Kilvas, Phoenicis, Bengion, and even southern Daein before they were taken care of."

Ok so this is going to have a few lemons in it, just warning you on that part.
