"High five for the real thing"
He automatically lifts his hand and her hand meets his in the time-honored tradition of "high-fiving".
Sharp sound of palm meeting palm.
Heat. Stinging. Slowly, fading to nothing. The initial sensational jolt was enough to stop him in his tracks and spin him around, to watch her walk out of the office. The hope of it made him move over slightly to watch her walk down the hallway.
Later, he's on the phone with her.
"Actually, it sounds kinda funny." Was that actually my voice? I've lost my mind. He's eating a piece of pie while he's on the phone, so after he empties the fork, he tests his palm with the fork tines to see if just talking to her causes the reaction.
Nope. No such luck.
Much later, they're at the public pool, investigating a death.
"We'll need to check the pool heater"
She stops and places her hands, still holding pen and notebook on the rail, and he slowly lowers his hand to test this again.
It's a cool evening, and perfect for this. As his hand gets closer to hers, he can actually feel the heat rolling off of her skin. Oh, God, does that feel good. His attention shifts to her blonde hair. He used to love sliding his fingers through a girls' hair, back when he could feel it. The coolness of a womans' hair, contrasted with the warmth of her scalp was such an amazing sensation. He has all he can cope with to keep from doing just that, and as she lifts her hands from the rail and walks away he actually puts his hands behind his back, gripping them tightly together to keep from acting out that thought. I really am losing my mind.
She turns to him and he realizes she's mapped out their day for tomorrow, and is looking for an answer. Good thing some portion of his brain was working, as he quickly reviews the end of her comments to him.
Ah! Opportunity.
"Deal."
He brings his hand forward, and, looking at him a little oddly, she shakes his hand.
Bliss.
