~ His Kagome ~
She was there again.
In his thoughts, his dreams, every living, breathing moment. She was there.
Kagome.
She would have insisted that it was Kikyo he thought and dreamt about, but it was only her.
Always Kagome.
There she sat, over by the campfire. She was busy studying her schoolbooks. He watched her. The moonlight glistening on her hair, the firelight twinkling in her eyes. Her legs crossed at the ankles, arms bent at the elbows and resting on her thighs.
She was beautiful, his Kagome.
The others where long asleep and Inuyasha sat in the Goshinboku watching Kagome.
She could feel his eyes on her, yet she never turned to him. Had she, she would have seen desire written on the face of Inuyasha.
Growing bored off her reading, she tossed her science book over her shoulder into her backpack. Kagome stood and dusted off her clothes before walking towards the hot spring.
"Kagome? Where are you going?" Inuyasha's voice came from the darkness.
"Inuyasha, come out where I can see you!"
He jumped down from the tree above her and landed with a soft plop in front of her.
"You shouldn't be walking by yourself in the middle of night Kagome." He said with sincerity.
"I was just going to take a bath in the hot spring. Go back to camp, I'll be fine."
"No. I'm staying here. I have to protect you!"
"Fine! But if you even glance at me, I'll sit you for a week!"
"Fine."
Inuyasha watched Kagome walk over to the edge of the hot spring and then turned away from her. He kept his ear alert and eyes open. He wouldn't let any harm come to her.
"Inuyasha?"
"What is it Kagome?" He said jumping around and landing in front of her in the water.
"Ack. . . SIT!!"
Water splashed as Inuyasha was yanked face first into the water. Kagome instantly felt bad and tried to pull him up from under the water but he was too heavy.
"Inuyasha, hold your breath." She said calmly.
The air bubbles stopped and soon only a bubble here and there reached the surface. Then, Inuyasha pulled himself out of the water and climbed to the river bank.
"Inuyasha? Are you okay? I didn't mean to do that, you just scared me!"
Inuyasha looked at her and frowned.
"I'm fine." He said simply.
"I'm sorry. Please forgive me Inuyasha." She whispered as tears started forming in her eyes.
"Why did you call out to me Kagome? I thought something was attacking you."
"No. I just wanted to see if you where still there."
"I'll always be there Kagome. In way or another."
Inuyasha reached out and grabbed Kagome's hand.
"Let's get back to camp okay."
Kagome nodded and grabbed her clothes throwing them on. She followed Inuyasha back to camp, unaware of the pair of eyes that followed them.
