A/N: So, this is my second Palex songfic. The song is "You And Me" by Lifehouse. I don't own Degrassi, Paige, Alex, or these wonderful song lyrics. Enjoy!

You And Me

With my arms still wrapped around Alex's neck, and hers protectively around my waist, I squealed softly when I heard the opening chords of the much-slower song. Since we'd been stuck in another embrace, we neglected to hear the DJ announce that he was going to slow things down for a song or two. Honestly, I didn't mind: this was one of many songs I always wanted to dance to, but never took the opportunity, prior to now.

"Alex?"
"Paige?"

We both spoke at once, quite unintentionally.

----

What day is it?

And in what month?

This clock never seemed so alive

I can't keep up and I can't back down

I've been losing so much time.

----

"You first," I insisted quietly, whether she knew it or not, we were dancing, regardless if she wanted to or not.

"I just wanted to talk." She replied, just as quickly as I had insisted, her fingers latching over the small of my back. This was the dream I never wanted to wake up from.

"Then we'll talk while we dance." I informed her, watching a sly smirk tug at the corners of her lips. Curiously, I tilted my head. "Why are you smirking?"

"Because I'm Alex: I s-"

Before she could finish her sentence, I kissed her, because my song was almost finished and I didn't want to talk now. Pulling away, I leaned my forehead against hers; my eyes were still closed, though, and my smile was only growing in size. Honestly, I was in denial of missing her.

----

One of the things that I want to say just aren't coming out right

I'm tripping on words

You've got my head spinning

I don't know where to go from here.

----

Nervously, I felt one of her hands slip down from the small of my back. Had I, Paige Michalchuk, made the Alex Nunez nervous?

"Hun, it's okay." I whispered reassuringly, easing my smirk into a courageous smile. "There's no need to be nervous."

----

There's something about you now I can't quite figure out

Everything she does is beautiful

Everything she does is right.

----

Daringly, I moved one of my arms from around her neck, placing my palm to her cheek. I knew she tightened her grip around my waist out of instinct.

"Paige… what're you doing?"

"What do you mean?"

Sighing, she shook her head to me. "I-"

"I love you." The words slipped out easily, purposely.

Silently, the corners of her lips upturned into a smile.

----

'Cause it's you and me and all other people with nothing to do

Nothing to lose

And it's you and me with all other people

And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

And me and all other people with nothing to do

Nothing to prove

And it's you and me and all other people

And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

What day is it?

And in what month?

This clock never seemed so alive.
