Just an idea that came to me after reading Karen Traviss's amazing Gears preguel The Slab

"Jump, will you? do it!" Dom yelled to Marcus via his earpiece as he slammed his foot on the gas driving the truck down the tunnel and towards the abandoned gas station. This is it then Dom thought as he drove surprisingly feeling numb... not sad not even scared.
Suddenly Dom laughed half heartedly muttering to himself "Tai... you were right man. You were right."
It always had to end this way didn't it? I couldn't have done anything for Carlos. Dom thought remembering his big brother god at least you never lived to see this war bro.
Dom glanced at the tattoo on his shoulder thinking Maria was dead long before I found her and ended her suffering... at least she's found peace... I'll see you soon babe. And the Kids too.
Dom slammed a hand on the horn, honking to get the attention the Locust and Lambent and draw them off Delta Squad. "Never thought it would end like this huh? Huh Maria?" Dom said full of anguish as he drove on.
Driving out of the tunnel still honking Dom saw a Locust turn towards him. Dom didn't even slow the truck down and proceeded to run over the Locust that had tired to take a shot at him.
Time seemed to slow as Dom drove the truck nearer and nearer to the gas tanker in the middle of the abandoned gas station.
Dom smiled sadly as he glanced at the roof and saw Anya, Sam, and Jace jumping off the roof with Marcus reluctantly following behind them.
This is for you Marcus... I stayed to help you. It was my only purpose Marcus... and that's okay. Find your old man and end this war for good Dom thought as drove towards the tanker.
Dom took deep a breath and closed his eyes as he drove directly into the tankers. Goodbye Marcus I'll see you again one day Dom thought before he felt the impact and knew no more...
I was really saddened by Dom's death in Gears 3.
To the point where my eyes were leaking Testosterone(not tears I swear!)
He was one of my favorite characters and very well developed
His sole existence being to find Maria then hanging around to help Marcus
But I digress...
