The cold harsh winds blew through the forest. The forest always seemed enchanted in the night for Fabian, he liked how everything was so dark and made it look as if creatures from fairy tales where everywhere like Fairies, Pixies, Monsters and Dragons. He also had a dream that they would come after him and his night in shining armour will show up to save him. Fabian knew it was stupid but it's okay for him to dream even if it was something as stupid as a fairy tale ending. His best memories where always made at midnight. That time for him just made his imagination go into overdrive and yet he felt sad as he always ran home at the stroke of twelve as if he was Cinderella at the ball. However no amount of magic would get him looking at his best and more.
Fabian walked with his coat and scarf through the woods. He knew he should be in bed before Victor noticed however he sneaked out about half an hour before the pin drops as Victor only stays that long unless he was staying over which was hardly ever. Fabian sat at the base of the tree and looked at his watch. Twenty minutes before he had to go. He hated it so much yet he knew he needed some sleep at least to be at his best. Fabian then heard a voice in the distance.
"Fabian!" the voice was unforgettable. Jerome. Jerome was the only one who knew about Fabian's midnight walks as he used to do them with him with their parents when they where little as they grew up together.
"Over here!" Fabian yells. Not long after Jerome appears from some bushes.
"You really do like these walks of yours don't you?" Jerome looked at Fabian who started to smile. "You know you shouldn't do them everyday, something might happen to you." Jerome sighed and slid down the trunk of the tree to be at Fabian's side, "You gonna tell me why you still do this?"
"Because I feel free out here plus this place is more magical at night." Fabian curled his legs up and started to hug them.
"You know if you love them that much just ask me to come with you to make sure your safe." Jerome put his hand on Fabian's shoulder.
"I don't want to deprive you of sleep because I know how cranky you get when you don't get enough sleep." Jerome started to blush and luckily it was dark so Fabian didn't notice.
"How long before midnight?" Jerome asked quietly looking away from Fabian and taking in the sound of the wind blowing through the wind.
"Ten minutes now." Fabian answered trying to hide his face.
"Just tell me when it is midnight." Jerome more ordered then asked.
"You hear the bells from the school as they ring every hour at night like a church." Fabian explained and lent on Jerome's shoulder.
They just sat there listening to the winds and the silence within the dusk. Then Jerome looked at Fabian.
"Yeah?" Fabian looked up at him with his twinkling blue eyes. Then he just knew, the bells started to ring and They kissed under the tree for the first time. It was slow and felt like it lasted forever but only lasted until the end of the bells.
"Let's do this tomorrow." Jerome said after the kiss and stood up and put Fabian on his back. Fabian then fell into a deep sleep and dreamt of his knight in shining armour saving him from the darkness.
From every memory Fabian and Jerome they both knew nothing could compare to the memories at midnight.
