Somehow, she didn't think she could do it. She didn't think that holding the gun to her head would be as easy as it was actually proving to be.
She sees the ring on her finger, the reminder of a time long ago, when she and him were happy, and there was nothing standing in their way. The gold glinted in the too-perfect sunset, another reminder of what she has come to face in the past couple decades.
This is not real.
The voice comes back to her. After years of trying to find it, it comes back to her. She smiles to herself, thinking about a happier time.
She pulls the trigger, and death overcomes her.
Only, when she wakes up he isn't there. That thought is what makes her cry out in pain. She knows it now, and it cannot be helped. She is lost.
