CHAPTER 2 - A camp in the forest
"Gimli, are you sure you're ok? That foot will take a few days to heal." Legolas asked Gimli curiously.
"Yes, of course I'm fine. This bandage will help." Gimli answered setting up his bed against the nearest pine tree. They had been travelling for at least 5 hours and Gimli was forming a massive scab. He stepped backwards. "A-OO-A!" He exlclaimed.
"What is it Gimli?"
"I-bashed-my-flippin'-scab-on-a-rock!" He replied.
"I hear the rustling again. We might not be-"Legolas was cut off by Gimli.
"It's your ears! They sense a lot of noise, those pointy ol' ears of yours!"
"Yes, I suppose you're right." They built their beds and and made canopys and of evergreen leaves. "Very comfortable here isn't it, Gimli?" Said Legolas.
"Ahhh.... yes, yes it is. My foot feels better already. Do you like the cusion I made for it?" Gimli replied.
"Very nice." It only took them about 5 minutes before they went to sleep. They were both used to sleeping with all of the forest noises. Legolas awoke with a start at about 1 in the morning. "What was that?" He said, startled. "Gimli, Gimli, wake up for christ's sake! I heard the Uruk-Hai!"
"What the hell do you mean?" Gimli replied tiredly.
"The Uruk-Hai are coming!"
"Dammit!" They got up quickly. Gimli was already dressed, all he had to do was put on his other stuff and shoes, then pick up his axe. Legolas had to get dressed. He made it. He picked up his arrows and slung them on his shoulder. Gimli was ready. Legolas made a grab for his bow but an Uruk-Hai hand swiped it.
"RUN!" Legolas cried as the Uruk-Hai warrior swung his weapon at his head. Blood splatted as it clipped his ear. "Ach!" They continued to run and Gimli chopped loads in half with his axe. Legolas pulled out a knife and stabbed a few as he ran on. One time he stabbed one of the new archers in the head and had to leave in behind as it got stuck in his skull. There were bodies everywhere and somehow Gimli and Legolas managed to dodge hundreds of sword swipes.
"Legolas, look," Shouted Gimli in his harsh voice. "The camp is on fire!"
"Never mind, we are not coming back to hear, are we?"
"No, I suppose not." They ran some more and eventually had gone past river Lefnui and were at Pinnath Gelin.
