David sat on the hardwood floor of his bedroom as he wrapped the present; it was late at night, everyone was asleep, and his intermittent yawns were growing more wide. He didn't want his Father or anyone in his family to see him wrapping the present for they would maybe ask whose it was; David didn't want to lie. He didn't want to admit that the present was for a special someone…Noah Puckerman.

Irritated by his inability to wrap the box, he slid the construction lightly across the dirty hardwood floor, weary not ruffle it, and stood to turn on some music; the quiet melody of the music hummed through the room. David sat back down on the floor to try again before he got an idea.

He leaned across the floor to reach for a nearby sheet of paper and a pencil. Tomorrow was the last day of school before break and he didn't expect to see Puck over the time. He wanted to write him a note, to leave inside the box for when Puck opened it.

Merry Christmas, Noah. I hope you have a cool holiday…well I hope you had a great holiday. I don't know when you're gonna open this so yeah. And I couldn't get you like eight things for Hanukah because I can't do enough for you. And I hope you enjoy what I got you though. It took me forever to think of something; it's not much. I can't wait to see you after break. I've been thing— Suddenly his phone rang on his desk. David placed the paper and pencil on the half-wrapped box to get his phone.

It was Puck; a cold spike jolted through David's spine before he flipped open the phone.

"H-Hey, Noah." It was all David greeted, still surprised by the late night call.

"What are you doing over break?" Puck asked boldly.

"Asides from the usual Christmas eve, Christmas day family stuff, nothing much."

"I want to hang out with you," he admitted strongly. "I asked to see Beth for a day during Hanukah and I…want you to meet her," he said more anxiously.

More shocked, David spoke quickly to not make Puck more insecure. "That w-would be great. I would love that."

"Awesome, we'll talk about when and where and stuff more tomorrow," Puck assured, relief coloring his tone. "So what're you up to, dude?"

David glanced down at the wrapping paper mess beside him before speaking. "I was getting ready for bed, closing some stuff down on the computer, you know."

"Oh well that's cool. I'll let you get some sleep, it is late. I'll talk to you tomorrow…goodnight babe."

"Goodnight—" David heard the phone hang up before he was fully finished; it took him a moment to realize exactly what happened. He grinned warmly as he tossed the phone on his bed, sitting on the floor again to finish his note; he still kept the words and inflections of the man in his head as he folded the paper.

"Well I'm more confident I got him the right gift," David whispered to himself as he placed the paper under his favorite childhood teddy bear and blanket.
