This is actually one of the journals I wrote for English. Got Volume Three of Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) a few days ago and was inspired. Though, I'm quite sure this has been done many times before. XD

Disclaimer: I do not own Kuroshitsuji, it belongs to the supreme epic-ness of Yana Toboso. I also do not own 'The Raven', which is a story by the great Poe. (My apologies if the quote is not correct.)

Warning: COULD be considered SebXCiel if you squinted. Though, it mostly just how they normally act. Since… well, have you READ the manga and/or anime? XD

"I heard a knocking upon my chamber door. I, who had been possessed by an apparition, spied a stately raven happen by overhead. And with dreaming eyes quoth the raven, "that which is lost shall never return."" A familiar boy whispered, clutching a black book in his hands as he read by the candlelight. "Never m-"

"Reading at this hour again?" A man dressed in a black swallowtail coat with a bemused grin said. In one of his hands was a lit candelabrum, probably used to navigate through the dark halls of Phantomhive manner. Or would be, if he wasn't…

Ciel gave a small 'hmph!' of indignation before closing the book and his two-colored gaze fixing on the man. One eye was pure sapphire in color, while the other had a smoky purple-pink haze and if you looked close enough, a pentagram glimmering in the center. "Need I remind you that I am the head of this household-"

"Whom is also thirteen years old, and has a business meaning scheduled tomorrow, or today, to be more precise." The man replied.

The dark haired noble scowled before placing the book on the bedside table next to where his eye patch lay. "I have no use for you're impertinence, Sebastian. You, after all, are my servant."

Sebastian gave his trademark smirk and bow. "I will not forget next time, Young master."

"Good, now shut the door on you're way out. There's a draft." The young teen grumbled as he tried to situate himself back under the covers, his butler appearing beside the bed in a flash, tucking Ciel in, before standing aside and blowing the light out of the single candle that rested on his master's table. "Yes, my lord."

The light that was emitted by the candelabra swiftly disappeared, leaving Ciel in the darkness. The light was gone. As the boy moved to his side and sleep began to overtake him, he remembered what his mother used to tell him when he was little that light would always scare the monsters away…

What a kind lie.

Even when his butler would come and push the curtains of his bedroom away, allowing the light of the sun to come in and wake him for breakfast, he could never escape the darkness within his own mind. Nightmares and disturbing memories alike would haunt the boy. His mother and father turning into ashes in front of him, his kidnappers distorted figures and voices encircling. Every man, woman, and thing that he had brought down, coming back to try and pull him into hell. And in the middle of the chaos, stood a creature, a demon, with crimson eyes. Protecting him from all these other forces of evil…

-The creature would tilt Ciel's head up to face those bloody eyes-

…Except for the evil that would entangle Ciel until the day he died, when it will consume him entirely.

-The devil with his smirk motioned with a single finger over his mouth in a 'shh' gesture-

The devil would ensnare his body against its own, cooing…

"Never more."

Before his soul would be taken.

THE END

First Kuroshitsuji fic, woot. Hopefully the start of a long list to come, once I update my other stories…! Sorry that it was so short!

Until then, farewell readers, I must bid you adieu.
