Still Doll

It's dark; too dark. I wonder when I will see light again. But I still see her, my still doll, cold, inflexible, unfeeling, and unchanged. She is my only confidant in this cold, dark room.

I feel it against my ankle, cold and unyielding; just like my still doll. But she's so pretty: all still and glassy. But this thing, this thing on me, it's not pretty, or still and glassy; it's ugly, crawling up my leg like an unstoppable organism that's caressing and consuming me, constantly. It is slowly but surely making me go insane.

It hurts: this cold dark thing. It's gripping and seizing me. It hooks me in its clutches, rubbing and grinding against my soft weak skin, causing the red fluid to soak though my white linen dress. It's sliding over the pale skin of my foot, dripping down onto the cold hardwood floor.

It pools there: the red liquid, uncouth and unforgiving where it lays, beckoning me with its presence.

My still doll, can you stop it? Stop this insanity pooling at my feet?

I can feel it staring at me, drawing me in.

My still doll, I am dissolving; dissolving into this pool of dark, twisted dreams and budding nightmares.

I am hypnotized by this strange world of wandering sands and crashing waves of veiled ambitions and nefarious morals.

Where is my morning, my Still Doll?

Where is my exodus from this world?

My arms grip at ancient wood and imaginative carvings of my demise from this dark and cold world.

My head resting on faded silk and frayed pillows.

And yet, you, my Still Doll, still stare at me with your transparent and glazed eyes, following my every move as I fall into a world that you helped me create through my voluminous sorrows and sedated hopes that I may be free once again.

I see you, my Still Doll, breaking and fracturing, shattering my peace of mind.

Why must you break, my darling?
