The rain poured down on the hunched boy walking. It plastered his blonde hair to his head, but he didn't care. It didn't matter. All he wanted was to get to that house, because someone he loved lived in it.
He raised a pale hand, and knocked on the door. A girl opened it; his sister. She took one look at him—his staring eyes, drenched body, his clothes clinging to his pathetically gaunt frame, the cheekbones jutting out—before going back in. Two minutes later, he was at the door.
They shared no words. The blonde stared at the redhead across him, disbelievingly. Was he going to forgive him, just like that? Did he dare hope?
"Yes?" the redhead finally asked.
The blonde felt his heart beat slower. The tone of the redhead was cold, chilling. Maybe he didn't care, after all. Well, it was his chance to tell him how he much he cared.
"I was stupid," the blonde mumbled. "I didn't know what I had, until I lost it. And I just can't take it anymore."
The redhead regarded him. He felt so stupid, honestly, he did. He had told him his feelings, and he had rejected them—afraid of his family's thoughts, afraid of what the people would think, afraid of what his friends would think, afraid of himself, because deep down, he knew he felt them too.
This was a free country, wasn't it? He could do whatever he wanted. And right now, what he wanted was to be with him. He was the only one who had cared for him, he had stuck by him through all his life.
"It takes two to tango," the redhead muttered, interrupting his internal monologue.
The blonde looked up, and stared into the redhead's sea-blue eyes. What was that supposed to mean? Did that mean he was all alone now; that he had left him, given him up? "Can I have this dance?"
The redhead raised an eyebrow skeptically. "Even if your partner wasn't a girl?"
The blonde nodded. "As long as it's you, Louis."
Louis smiled a little. "Maybe, in time, you can love me for me."
Lorcan smiled in relief. "Maybe, I already do."
