widows entwine at the bus stop. RATED T ; TRAGEDY/FRIENDSHIP ; COMPLETED ; AERITH AND TIDUS ; aerithcloud. tidiusselphie. tragedy can cause the strangest friendships

She puts on her makeup the same way she did yesterday, hoping everything will be the same – but it's changed. She grabs her basket of flowers, despite the fact that Leon is giving her that worried glance, as she's walking out the door.

"She can defend herself," Yuffie chimed, just as concerned.

He sighed, picking up his weapon – and following after her, sometimes he was just too over protective.

That was Leon/Squall, whatever you wanted to call him, but Aerith didn't notice. She was skipping, smiling – because everything was okay, but really her world was broken.

Big boys don't cry, that's what his father used to tell him when he would get a cut or bruise, it stopped him promptly. Heartbreak was a lot harder to stop, the tears fell even when he told himself to be a man. He walked away from the people who knew him best.

"He just needs to time to heal," Kairi whispered to the three boys – Sora, Riku and Wakka. He pretended not to hear them, he pretended it was just him walking along the beach to her grave.

He knew what everyone refused to accept, that time wouldn't change anything, he would still love her and she'd still be dead.

She put the flowers down in his grave, though there was no body – the heartless had taken that, along with his heart and a part of hers. She wondered if pink was an appropriate color to wear at such a sad time, she knew he wouldn't care either way.

He would just want her to be happy, even though he was gone, he would want to look down on her from the heavens and want to see her laugh.

She just hoped he couldn't see through her plastic smile.

People dealt with death very differently, he could only cry and cry – he couldn't be strong for her. He couldn't save her from the life she didn't want to be saved, she let the water consume her lungs and there was nothing he could do about it.

He wondered when she stopped laughing and started crying, he wished he could go back in time and stopped her. Her words flashed through his head; "If wishes were birds then dreams would fly."

He wished he could understand what she meant, by her words and actions.

She saw him mourning by himself, his tears are what drew her to him, she walked silently to the stranger and embraced him. She didn't know why, but it seemed like the right thing to do.

She held him tightly and told him it'd be okay.

He was alone, when she came to him – her warm embrace wasn't expected, even though she was a stranger it was just – right. She told him it was okay, and the strangest thing was she meant it. She really wanted it to be okay for him, and he wanted it to be okay for her.

He hugged her back and told it was okay to cry.

Death only makes you stronger.
