"Sir, remind me again why I'm doing this?" Samantha Carter called from behind the screen set up against the far wall of the briefing room
"You lost the bet Major. Now get those wings on and get down to the 'Gate room. We go in 10 minutes and I wanna take a team photo before we leave." Jack O'Neill called over his shoulder as he sauntered from the room. A self-satisfied grin fixed firmly in place.
"Hey Jack! Where's Sam? She's gonna be late."
"No she won't be Danny. I made sure that she knew exactly how long she had to get down to the 'Gate room. She'll be there."
"Uh, if you say so Jack. You coming?" Danny asked, as he and Teal'c headed down the corridor and into the 'Gate room.
"I'll be right there," Jack called to their retreating backs. "Just gotta check on a bet I made."
"I see. We will await you in the 'Gate room O'Neill"
"Be right there!" Jack grinned as he ran up to the briefing room. "Oh Carter!" He sang as he strolled into the room. "Time to go Major. Don't wanna keep the natives on P4X 471 waiting, now would we?"
"Right. OK. Here goes." Sam muttered. She walked out from behind the screen, well shuffled would have been more accurate. "Is this OK Sir?" The sarcasm was very audible in her voice.
"That's great Major. Come on. Let's go." With that he turned and practically skipped from the room.
"Wonder what's taking so long?" Down in the 'Gate room Daniel was getting impatient. It was normally him who was the last one there! He swallowed what he was about to say because at that moment Jack walked in, followed by Sam. At least he thought it was Sam. It was hard to tell under all those feathers.
"Major Carter, what exactly are you supposed to be?" Teal'c spoke before Daniel had a chance to gather his thoughts. Jack was quietly laughing to himself in the corner.
"A chicken T. She's supposed to be a chicken. That's not all though." As he spoke the 'Gate dialed and a wormhole established. "Go on Major. Show them your next trick!"
"Sir!" There was a distinct hint of petulance in her voice as Sam began to dance her way over to the ramp. "I can't believe General Hammond agreed to this!"
"Hey, he lost the bet too!" Jack motioned for the rest of the team to follow as Sam danced up the ramp and through the 'Gate
"So Jack what was this bet?"
"Sam bet I wouldn't be able to find a ballet with dancing chickens in it. The General agreed and I said if I did then Sam'd have to dress as a chicken on our next mission. I won, naturally."
"What is this ballet O'Neill?"
"It's called 'La Fille Mal Gardee'. I'll take you to see it when we get back. Must take Sam too." And with that they stepped through the 'Gate.
Hopefully no natives would attempt to pluck the Major and serve her with carrots and gravy!
