AN: first ever doctor who story, but my friends sort of challenged me to write something none law and order so this it.

Lightning struck almost in front of her as thirteen year old Annabelle Fox walked off into the night. Everyone else her age was at home with their families or hiding under the duvet texting their friends, but not Annabelle. As the rain continued to pour she let a few of her own tears mix in with the droplets that clung to her eye lashes. Digging her nails into her palms she urged herself to keep walking but her muscles ached, she hurt both emotionally and physically, to be honest with you she had had enough.

To get out of the rain she silently slipped into an all night cafe and ordered tea to warm herself. Not one of the adults in their questioned why she was alone at half eleven at night. Invisible, she thought, i guess that's all I'll ever be. She took her mug over to an empty table by the window and looked blankly out. Nothing to see. The odd car driving past but not really many signs of life at.

So many questions were buzzing around her mind that she didn't see the cafe door open and a man walk in. It was only when he sat down across from her she even noticed him at all. He wore a dark brown coat and his hair was all over the place. He was also oddly wearing a bow tie, she blinked twice, was she so invisible that he just sat at a random table without seeing her?

"Hello..." he smiled and she jumped slightly. "Jammy dodger?" He pushed the small plastic tray towards her and she eyed it suspiciously. Something told her then that things for her were about to go mad.
