She was stubborn and steadfast, he was carefree and relaxed.
She was fire, he was ice.
And yet, the two melded together so perfectly, so seamlessly.
When she would busy herself with fights, Senketsu ever form fitting, he would watch from the tinted window of his classroom that loomed over the academy's battle grounds and proudly smile to himself each time she delivered the deciding blow, each time the edge of her crimson scissor blade would glint in the sunlight and hack through the life fibers of some poor, out-classed Goku outfit.
When he would drabble on over the most boring of topics during lessons, she would focus on each and every lecture with an attentiveness and eagerness that rivaled anything he had seen before. At first he had thought she was simply invested in the subject matter itself, but upon further investigation found it was only in his class did she participate with such intensity, no other History class prior. Or any class in general.
Their arguments were strange and unorthodox, yet appealing and familiar. Like a warm reminder of the affection between them, something that personified the utter craziness that the friendship was built on.
When she would screech at him, jade eyes alit with a passionate mixture of fury and affection, he couldn't help but find himself listening to the sound of her voice like he would music. His eyes would seek out the little, minute details that he normally had no appropriate time to view; the way her silky onyx hair would glisten in the ambiance of his apartment, how her cheek bones were beautifully angled, how her rosy lips would purse when she received an answer that was unsatisfactory, how-
He would keep himself from looking any further, as that large age gap between him and her mocked him in the cruelest of ways.
Indeed, their friendship was strange. Indeed, in some sinful part of his brain which rejected reality and denied the existence of the word 'taboo', he wanted more.
Aikuro did desire Ryuuko.
And maybe, on some level, Ryuuko desired Aikuro.
Who knew.
