"What's this?" He asked, eying the large canvas warily.
"It's…what ever you want it to be." He looked questionably at me.
"You can rip it, cut it, paint it, throw paint at it, burn it. What ever you want to do with it, you can. You could even tear it into tiny squares if you wanted to." I explained. Sasuke looked up at the blank canvas with calculating eyes.
"But what's it for?" He finally asked. I smiled softly at him.
"When I was younger, my dad used to give me a piece of paper and a pencil when ever I got mad or frustrated. He'd tell me to go away and come back to him when I was finished and show him the piece of paper."
I grinned fondly at the memory, "The first time he did this, I tore the paper to shreds and then scrunched it up into a ball. I came stomping to him and threw the ball at his feet. I was still mad. So, he gave me another piece of paper and sent me off again, telling me to draw on the paper before tearing it up. So off I went and drew on it. Big, messy scribbles."
"So what was the point of it?" Sasuke asked, his attention now fully focused on me.
"It was to vent my anger and frustration out. It was his safe and cheap method of keeping me from destroying things."
"So, this is what the canvas is for. It's a bit more durable than a piece of paper. The purpose of this exercise is just that. To vent what ever anger and frustration you are feeling visibly. It will help to 'uncap' the lid on the bottle, so to speak. Therapist's use this method with patients as a way of helping them cope."
"Is telling your patient about your childhood a way of coping?"
I chuckled. "No. It's very unprofessional of me actually. But you understand what it's for now, though, don't you?"
The Uchiha nodded. I clapped my hands and stood up from my seat.
"Well, I'll let you get to it." I waved my hand and left, leaving Sasuke looking at the canvas.
"You think he'll do it?" Sakura asked as I exited the room Sasuke was currently locked in. I shrugged.
"It's totally up to him. If he does nothing than glare at it, that's his problem. If he completely destroys it? Well, that's progress."
"How is that progress?" Naruto interrupted.
"Idiot! That means he has vented out some of his anger. Destroying things is usually linked with anger." Sakura yelled, hitting Naruto on the head.
"Ow Sakura-chan! You know I'm the Hokage now right? You just can't keep hitting me."
"Oh, I'm sorry Hokage-sama. Here, let me fix that." The pinkette said in a sickingly sweet voice.
"Thanks Sakura-chan!" Sakura lifted her hand…and hit him on the other side of the head.
"OW!" Naruto yelled. Sakura was dusting her hands.
I chuckled at them.
"Well, I'm going to leave now, Sakura-san, Hokage-sama." I bowed.
"Thanks, Dr. Tsuyoi." Sakura said warmly, "for helping Sasuke-kun. He's improved so much with you."
"Yeah. Thanks a lot Amai-san. You really are a miracle worker."
