Hakoda stood sitting in his chief's tent. He was at Chameleon Bay with his son who had just arrived. He was full of joy as he embraced his son. It was the first time he had seen his son in two years. His best friend Bato had seen him just months before and told him they were traveling with the Avatar. Hakoda was full of pride at the sight of his son.

"Hey dad" Sokka said cheerfully.

"Sokka it's great to see you. I hear you are traveling with the avatar" Hakoda said.

"Yeah dad I am. In fact Aang is like my brother now" Sokka said.

"Can you believe it? My son is like a brother to the avatar"

"So that makes Katara like his sister" Hakoda said trying to put things together.

"No Toph, Aang's earth bending teacher, is more like his sister. Katara and Aang's relationship is more complicated" Sokka said.

"What do you mean?" Hakoda said.

"Its , you will kind of understand when I tell you our story" Sokka said.

For the next hour Sokka sat and told Hakoda almost everything about their adventure. He left out certain more personal things like specific relationships and other things he wasn't quite ready to open with his father. He hadn't seen him in two years and didn't know if he was ready to tell him everything. When he finished the tale Hakoda looked quite relaxed and interested.

"You guys have been through a lot this year" Hakoda said.

"Yeah we have. Do you better understand Aang and Katara now?" Sokka asked.

"Kinda" Hakoda said.

"From what I can see Katara acts like Aang's mother half the time. The other half she acts like his wife. It's really weird" Sokka said.

"Is there something between them?" Hakoda asked.

"I honestly don't know. I do know that Katara feels something for him. Ever since we met him she has been so protective of him. When Zuko kidnapped him at the North Pole it was almost like when mom died all over again. She needs him. He closed up when Appa went missing and it really hurt her. She wasn't happy when Aang wasn't happy" Sokka said.

"That sounds like she's in love with him" Hakoda said.

"It does" Sokka said.

"What about Aang?" Hakoda asked.

"I am not sure. He is such a goofball it is hard to read is emotions sometimes. He cares about her a lot as a friend but I don't know more than that. She is really pretty now though. She looks like mom" Sokka said.

Hakoda nodded and pondered that for a while.

"If that's true then a lot of guys must be interested" Hakoda said.

"Yeah but she doesn't respond to any of them. The only one was that creep jet and she froze him to a tree" Sokka said.

"So Sokka have you had success with the ladies. Did you use the moves I showed you" Hakoda said grinning.

Bato walked by and rolled his eyes trying not to laugh.

"Yeah dad I am a ladies' man" Sokka said with some bravado.

"So do you have a special someone now" Hakoda asked.

"Yeah, remember the Kyoshi warrior from the story. We hooked up a couple weeks ago" Sokka said.

"Good for you Sokka" Hakoda said with some pride.

"Both of my kids ended up with the last people I would have suspected. My little girl is in love or it seems with the avatar. My son whom I thought would marry a housewife married a strong warrior. These kids are so interesting" Hakoda thought to himself.

A day later Aang showed up early. Sokka knew something was wrong.

"Katara is in trouble" the young avatar said.

Sokka immediately left.

"I am so glad my children have friends like they do to help them. The avatar seems like such a nice kid. I hope they succeed" Hakoda thought to himself before he left.
