A/N: Huge thanks to Liz (starzskymoon) and Jenilee for being my guinea pigs with the first read-through and providing great feedback on some bits I thought needed tweaking.
I originally set out to write a missing scene for Time Is on My Side that would cover Dean untying Sam, etc. but ended up with this instead. It's a little different, so I hope you like it. Let me know what you think.
Disclaimer: guess I need one of these. Sam, Dean & Slicey McHackey are all property of Kripke & Co and I'm definitely making no profit from this.
"I can save you! Let me out!"
Immortality, that's what I set out to find. Now I've got it. Guess it isn't always what it's cracked up to be.
Eternity in an icebox (they call them fridges now) under tons of dirt.
My match dims, it gets darker and darker. Then all light it gone. None shines through the seal around the lid of my insulated metal coffin. The match has burnt out.
In the darkness there's nothing to do. No sound penetrates the walls of my tomb.
"Let me out! Let me out! Please, let me out, I can save you!" I scream. The sound just bounces back to me now. There's too much dirt to let it out. They won't hear, they're probably long gone by now.
Later I notice it's getting hard to breathe. I can't push the lid up any more. Immortality doesn't mean super strength. But I won't suffocate. I can't die. It'll just get harder and harder to draw in air. And then it will all be gone. Eventually my body will wear out, but I will still be alive here⦠eternally.
No Dean, I am not enjoying forever. It has only been a few hours, maybe a day, and already immortality 'sucks'!
