"Hope," she broke the silence, "Is a beautiful thing to have." He looked at her like she was crazy.
"We were talking about what kind of ramen to get before you went freakishly silent." She threw his crazy-look right back at him.
"Well, duh. Hope." She waited for him to make the connection. "Come on, Sasuke. Ramen. Hope."
"… You better not be making the connection I think you're making." Her eyes lit up. She shot a fist up into the air.
"NARUTO FOR HOKAGE!" He slapped a palm to his forehead.
"Not again."
"I KNEW HE COULD DO IT!"
"Sakura." By now she was standing up and clutching those fists to her chest.
"I'm so, so happy, Sasuke!" She turned her eyes on him, and he melted. Just a little.
"Aa, I know." She waited expectantly, "Me too." She flung an arm around his shoulder and laid a kiss to his temple. He swatted her away while a blush settled itself on his features. "Ok, ok, now will you sit down? People are staring." Her laugh tinkled through his ears, and she sat and smiled at him in the prettiest way.
He turned his head to the side. She shot a knowing look in his direction, and brought his face back toward her with a finger at his chin,
"Hope is a beautiful thing, Sasuke-kun," There was no period to punctuate the statement, only the pressing of her lips to his as she leaned over the table. He waited until she'd returned to her seat to respond,
"Hope is most beautiful when it's realized."
A/N: Can you tell what a nerdy-dorky Obama-phile I am? Because I am. And I am so incredibly happy and ecstatic that he got elected, that I had to post something. Anything. Because Oh-My-God – for the first time in a long, long time, I am proud to call myself an American. (You guys all missed my biden-fangirling phase since I haven't posted in MONTHS).
I know not all of you will agree with my politics. But both McCain and Obama had it right last night: That's not what this is about anymore – forget partisanship. Forget all of that. We are all of us one country now and one people and one everything. (I mean, aside from globalization of course). Love thy fellow man. We have a lot of things to fix, and it will only happen if we can work togezzah.
… okay, my rant is over.
Now for housekeeping. So, I was going to post this other one-shot in celebration, but that has to wait because I'm stuck (as usual). It's a sequel to Bloody Typical… so we'll see how that goes. Everything else is on a tentative hiatus for when my life gives me time to breathe again.
That's about it. Read & review my darlings.
CHANGE IS HERE! (heart)
