Lucy did whatever she could think of to get her crush to ask her out. During winter she made him put his arm around her. When she was sad or worried she'd bury herself in his chest. And of course the flirting. Yet, the idiot was oblivious. Lucy sat down at one of the empty tables with a sigh. They hung out all the time, she tried to make it clear that she liked him, and yet, he still didn't seem to know. Lucy sat in Fairy Tail hall for a while, her head resting on the wood table. She was alone until a certain blue hair wizard arrived.

"Levy, is he ever going to ask me out?" Lucy sighed as the solid script mage sat down across from her.

"Lucy, you can ask him out you know." Levy said.

"I just feel like that'd be so embarrassing." Lucy said from where her head was cradled in her arms on the table.

"Only if he says no." Levy said unhelpfully. Lucy looked over to where Natsu had just arrived and sighed heavily. His sweatshirt and scarf told Lucy it'd gotten colder since she got to Fairy Tail.

"Hey Luce." Natsu said grinning as he hurried over. "Wanna go on a mission?" He asked.

"Sure." Lucy said miserably. Natsu picked one from the board with Happy as the only other input and then the three set out. Lucy pulled Natsu's arm and draped it around herself when they got outside. His eyes landed on her, realizing that she wasn't dressed for the weather. They stopped at her house to pack up the essentials before heading off on their mission.

When it was over and the three got back to her house Lucy dropped her bag and buried her face in his chest, holding onto him tightly. He held her against him, his chin coming to rest on her blond hair.

"Ok Natsu. I give up. Are you going to ask me out or what? I've been trying to send you flirtation signals but you don't seem to be getting them. If you don't feel the same way about me fine, but I just-" She stopped when he moved back with a confused expression.

"Wait what?" He asked.

"If you don't like me the same way its okay but if you do you need to get your act together and ask me out." She said hesitantly.

"You're my girlfriend." Natsu said still with a confused expression. Happy landed on the table and laughed.

"You never asked her out Natsu. You forgot. So this whole time you thought she was your girlfriend." Happy laughed.

"What?" Lucy asked horrified.

"Oh yeah!" Natsu said grinning at his cat. "I asked you what you thought about how I should ask her and you said give her a fish but we were on a mission and I couldn't get a fish. By the time we got back I forgot and just went on thinking we were dating." Natsu said.

"How do you forget that idiot?!" Lucy shouted. Natsu shrugged and went over to Happy's green bag, pulling out a fish and holding it out to Lucy.

"So you wanna be my girlfriend for real?" He asked. Lucy sighed and blushed and eyed the raw fish with mild disgust.

"Yeah." She said in a small voice.

"Great." Natsu said smiling and putting the fish on the table where Happy had been sitting before the two left. Lucy stared at the fish like it had caused her some kind of grievance or pain.

"Stupid fish." She sighed with a small smile.
