Once upon a time, in a kingdom made of nothing but sweets, there lived a young prince.
"Come away from that window, son."
"But, Father, I want to join the racers."
"You'll do no such thing! You are a prince; a royal; the heir to the throne of Sugar Rush. You are to watch, and to initiate, not participate."
Prince Candy von Schweetz longed to race with all his heart. He wanted to be out there with all the other young racers as they drove through the kingdom at breakneck speeds.
The prince hatched a plan. At the next race, he would sneak his way in and compete. He would show his father! He would prove that royals can race!
And he did. The boy raced, despite his father's protests, and won. The prince had performed flawlessly. He faced every obstacle and every turn with a determination that, if you hadn't known better, you could have sworn he'd been doing it all his life.
After seeing his son's success and the joy it brought to the boy's face, the King allowed for his son to participate in the races from that day on.
As the years passed, the prince grew in strength and wisdom, until the day of his eighteenth birthday, when, as was tradition, he was crowned King.
"Citizens of Sugar Rush, may I present, King Candy von Schweetz."
But what is a King without a Queen?
"Truly Scrumptious, would you do me the honor of being my Queen?"
"Yes."
The King and Queen were married and lived happily. However, tragedy struck when the Queen fell ill. There was no cure. The whole kingdom wept as their beautiful Queen was buried, and their once cheerful King was left a widower.
The King never smiled after that. For, unlike the racers he had come to call friends, he had no child. Ha and his wife had tried, but it was impossible. There was a hole in the King's heart, and he didn't even have a child to help him dull the pain.
As the King looked at the newest generation of young racers, he couldn't help but imagine that his child stood amongst them. A little girl with black hair, hazel eyes, and all her mother's mischief. Sadly, it was just a dream.
Not all hope was lost though.
One day, while walking through his kingdom, the King happened across a sugar plum fairy that had gotten stuck in a tree. Unable to let one of his subjects suffer, the King climbed the tree and freed the fairy.
"For your help, your Highness, I will grant you one wish."
He didn't even have to think.
"I wish for a child."
"And a child you shall have."
With a wave of the fairy's wand, a little girl, just like the one he had so often dreamed of, appeared before the King.
"Daddy?"
"King Candy, say hello to your new daughter. Vanellope von Schweetz."
For the first time in years, the King smiled.
The End?
