A/N This occurs after the Kokuborou arc and I am assuming the big sphere Yoshimori created was a zekkai since I can't understand the original manga (I am just basing on the images).

Measure of Brotherhood

With Kokuborou out of action for a while, the Yagyou have few days before going back to their old headquarters in the Urakai. The Yagyou little-by-little return leaving Masamori who was to return after a few more days.

"Aniki, can we talk?" asked Yoshimori after entering his brother's room.

"What do you want to talk about?"

"I want you to teach me some things. I think I'm ready."

"Before I answer that, do you now understand why the houin appeared on you?"

"The zekkai I created in Kurosusuki was huge. I wasn't able to control it. The latent power inside me was more than what I've seen you release."

"Exactly. You are far more powerful than me. Now that you understand that, I find no problems with teaching you. But..."

"But what?"

"Why not ask shige-jii to teach you? He is after all, a legitimate successor as well."

"I don't want to bother him with the basics. Besides. Before you left, before I got mad at you, we were close weren't we?"

"We were. Alright then. I'll ask shige-jii's permission to train you properly. I won't go easy on you. Got it?"

"Thanks aniki. There was another thing too. I think I'm ready to tell you why I got mad at you in the first place."

"It's about Tokine right? I think that's a story better told before we sleep. Want to sleep in my room?"

"Fine. How did you figure out it was about her anyway?"

"When we go home after playing with her, you were always watery-eyed. Especially after Tokine and I spend a lot of time together."

"Then why didn't you do anything? Did you like her too? Did you want to take her away from me?"

"Hey hey little brother, did you think I would do that to you?"

"But you always..."

"I spend time with her because we talk ABOUT you."

"What about me?"

"I always knew I wouldn't be around you a lot when we grew older. I wanted to make sure she cared enough."

"I don't understand."

"Just a minute. Houi. Josou. Ketsu! Now we can talk."

"Why did you just..."

"Shige-jii does not approve of your relationship with Tokine. That's why I need to put up a sound-proof kekkai."

Masamori explained that he always knew that he would not stay long with the rest of the Sumimura household. Before that happened, he wanted to make sure that his little brother would be safe in spite of his job as kekkaishi. Aside from that, he also wanted to know if Tokine had feelings for Yoshimori, which he still would not want to divulge to his brother.

"Why aniki? Why won't you tell me if she likes me?"

"That's something you need to figure out yourself. Like I did."

"You just asked her!"

"Still, I did didn't I? You need to gather up enough courage to ask her. It's better that way."

"Do you think I would have a chance? After all. She is older than me."

"She cares about you. That I can say. So it would be wrong for me to say that you don't have a chance with her."

"She said she wanted a candy castle before."

"Is that why?"

"Why what?"

"Your obsession with cakes. Dad told me about it. He said you were good."

"Oh that. Yup. I want to give her that castle she wanted."

"I see. You also want to get stronger for her."

"I don't want to see her get hurt anymore."

"We start training tomorrow. With or without shige-jii's permission."

"Really? Thanks aniki!"

With that discussion out of the way, they went to sleep. Masamori lay awake for a bit longer, smiling as he seemed to have gotten his little brother back.
