Yeah, I don't own Kingdom hearts, and I wish I owned Axel.
Please read and enjoy. This is my first KH fanfiction. I hope I got the voice right. ;
Dedicated to Quinton Flynn, my friend and inspiration.

Axel opened his eyes slowly. He felt exactly the same as when he laid down. He remained on his back and stared toward the ceiling. He tried to remember what he had been dreaming of, but his mind was as blank as the surrounding walls. Not wanting to spend yet another day doing completely nothing, he rolled onto his side and got up. He fixed his cloak and started out to the hallway.
Castle Oblivion was gigantic, though extremely interesting. Every time he roamed the halls, he found it vaguely familiar.
"I can't help but have the feeling," Axel had been know to think, "That I've been here before." The thought was always followed with him scoffing at the irony of the word 'feeling'. After all, if he had no heart, he had no feelings; what he "felt" was obviously all in his head. Besides, why would he ever have come to such a ratty and neglected castle? It was abandoned, and it was with good reason.
Axel spotted two double doors, and with little trouble, opened them. He was greeted by darkness. After a moment of adjustment, he could make out the shape of a fireplace. Stepping over some scattered rubble, he made his way over too it. The room was far too chilly for his tastes. He put his hand into the center and felt less than half of a charred log. It would have been insufficient to start of fire, but just enough to sustain one. He quickly lit it, and with the new light spotted a switch on the wall. He decided not to flip it; he was fine by just the firelight.
He looked around and noticed that he was in some kind of library. He grabbed book after book from the shelves and looked at their titles. They all seemed to be Academic books, mostly on Anatomy, the Cardiovascular system or Advanced Psychology . He especially liked one book, Ice over Fire! The benefits of the Ice Age v.s. the Damage of Global Warming. In fact, he liked it so much he used it to keep the fire going.
He grabbed a book and started thumbing through it. It was about Hearts, and he couldn't keep from being interested. He looked at the cushioned chairs buy the fireplace and sat down, deciding to kill his bored with something worthwhile. He put his feet up on a table that lay in the center. His boots immediately met with paper. He cocked his head, interested with his discovery. He sat his book down on a side table, on top of another called Marquis de Sade.
He looked at the papers trying to interpret the writing, but the script was tall and the shadows of the fire weren't helping. He squinted down at it words. He could almost make them out...
Suddenly the lights flashed on and there was a loud, wet crash. The light was so bright that he was temporarily blinded. After he regained his sight, he saw a piece of a cloak as they ran out the door. He stumbled out of the chair, over the rubble, and into the hallway. The whole encounter seemed so strange to him. He had thought he had been alone in the castle this entire time.
