An infinite amount of never-ending possibilities that could overwhelm just about any human brain.

Thankfully...Cortana only had fragments of Doctor Halsey's brain and could interpret all the diverse amounts of data she was currently deciphering. Her hologram form sat on the floor of the small ship she occupied.

Mostly empty pods sat off to the side. Only two of them were currently occupied, both of them women. One with short, raven black hair and the other with long blonde hair. Their lithe bodies were floating in the holding pods as they waited to be woken up.

Cortana sighed at all the data she was looking through. Even with her advanced programming, she still had an actively expanding multiverse to examine. The OverMind had expanded her limits but she still felt the strain.

She was disturbed from her analyzing when a large blip lit up her screen and couldn't help but grin.

They had found their man.

Alex awoke in a sweaty haze in his small bed with Reyna's arm draped over him.

He had the nightmare again.

Haunting images of him, Reyna, Annabeth, and Percy trying to make it through Tartarus never left him. He can still see Percy, those sea green eyes and that damn smile saying goodbye to him as he held back a screaming Annabeth who was doing everything to just be with him.

"LET ME GO!," she kept screaming as she flailed her arms at Percy as the Doors of Death closed and he was gone.

He had decided to stay behind to help hold the hordes of monsters off. It was a stupid plan and it proved his loyalty to his friends all the way to his death.

Alex grabbed his pack of cigarettes from his nightstand in the cabin and put on a camp shirt and a pair of jeans before quietly sneaking off to the lake to try and clear his head.

The walk through the empty camp to the lake was nice until he spotted someone else sitting on the dock.

Annabeth sat there, her blonde hair gently blowing in the wind. She turned and saw Alex and turned back to look at the water, her expression empty. Alex sat next to her and lit a smoke before taking a drag and slowly exhaling some smoke and looking at the stars.

"This is where the camp tossed us in,"

Alex looked at Annabeth, she kept her gaze on the water as a single tear descended down her cheek.

Percy's death had hit the camp hard but it clearly hit Annabeth the hardest. Until Alex got brought into their world, Percy was the only one she truly trusted and let down her walls for. He was her everything and he was taken away from her.

She wiped the tear away and turned to say something to Alex before a large ship slammed into the water sending a large wave crashing into them. Alex was caught off guard but managed to put his arms around Annabeth to protect her from the sudden surge.

Once the water had settled down, they looked out over the canoe lake and saw a large, unfamiliar looking ship floating out there.

There was only one option for them and rather than get help, they went to investigate.

Alex created a small bubble in the water for him and Annabeth as they floated towards the strange ship that still floated in the water.

It looked like nothing Alex had ever seen. It was smooth all around the with strange writing all over it that he couldn't translate, especially with his dyslexia.

As they got closer they noticed a door sitting just above the water that mysteriously opened up to reveal the darkness within.

Alex hoisted him and Annabeth up into the doorway and once they moved inside the door slammed shut behind them.

"Well, whoever owns this ship sure knows how to make a first impression," Alex said outloud before Annabeth smacked him.

"Be quiet! We don't know if the people who own this ship are friendly!" she whispered loudly.

It didn't take long for them to get an answer when all the lights in the room suddenly flipped on nearly blinding them.

"Sorry for the shady introduction, the OverMind isn't too fond of introductions," a female voice spoke.

"Who are you?!" Alex shouted as he looked around for the source of the voice.

A blue light gently flashed near some computer screens before a feminine body revealed itself.

"My name is Cortana, I'm an artificial intelligence, and I'm really sorry but this is gonna hurt,"

Before Alex could even think he felt an extremely sharp pain in the back of his neck and everything went black.

When Alex's eyes opened he was surrounded by stars. He was drifting through the infinite blackness of space.

"Wha...?"

"It's a lot to take in isn't it?" Cortana's voice spoke up, "A never-ending possibility of infinite universes."

"Um...excuse me miss but...WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON?!" Alex shouted.

Cortana's voice managed a soft chuckle.

"All will be explained Alexander, once you and your lovers meet the OverMind," she spoke in a comforting tone.

Before Alex could even offer a retort, a large being started floating toward him.

It was one of the strangest looking things he had ever seen and he'd seen plenty of weird shit in his brief time in the Greek world.

It was a basically a large floating humanoid-looking brain with several tentacle looking appendages sticking out of it. They moved the creature gently over towards Alexander who was so intrigued by it he was frozen.

"There's no reason to be afraid Alexander," a loud yet comforting voice boomed around him, "I'm sure you have plenty of questions but I'm here to answer all of them."

"My name is the OverMind and I am the monitor over everything that exists within the multiverse. For thousands of years I've maintained balance and order over all sentient life but my time is coming to an end and after much deliberation I have decided to make you my replacement," the OverMind spoke.

Alex was completely shocked, how would any sane person respond to a giant brain with a Japanese tentacle fetish that you were going to be in charge of pretty much everything in the fucking universe?!

"Well uh, thank Mister Brain thingy but um...this seems like a bit of, oh I don't know, an entire load of horse shit?" Alex spoke sarcastically.

The OverMind simply chuckled.

"That's one of the reasons Cortana chose you, she said you have a fantastic sense of humor,"

"Okay can someone please give me a true rundown of everything thats going on here?!" Alex shouted again still confused.

"Once you are in charge everything will make sense but for now, we're gonna put you in stasis so you can better grasp things,"

"I'm sorry wha-" Alex tried to respond before everything went dark again and he was just as confused as he was to begin with.
