Ishida's watch is permanently stopped at 2:37. It's old, ratty, and tends to come undone and fall off his wrist, but he keeps it anyway. Ichigo has, on more than one occasion, demanded to know why he still wears it, and the closest thing to a response he's received so far is "shove off." To which Ichigo obstinately replies, hell, I'll buy you a new watch, just stop wearing that crappy one, and Ishida says, even if you buy me one I'll never wear it. And Ichigo huffs and changes the subject, and Ishida tries to hide a small smile.

Sometimes he does contemplate taking it off, though he never does. Because it's one of the few things his father has given him, and ironically his father was the one to break it as well. Either he hadn't noticed when he stepped on it or simply didn't care; and in any case would have simply blamed his son for leaving it on the floor. And yet still Ishida keeps it, somewhat to his own bafflement. He tells himself it's because it's an old Quincy heirloom.

He doesn't much trust clocks anyway. They're invariably wrong, and it's impossible to know by how much, as the only way to check is by comparing to other, equally inaccurate clocks. At least he has the certainty that his watch will be correct exactly twice a day.

Ichigo always seems to know what time it is, anyway.
