The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

The Joker smiled, looking down at the unconscious man at his feet. He always admired a fox, and the idiot at his feet resembled one; all sharp angles and furtive movements.

Well, when he had been sneaking around the Joker's hideout, that is. He wasn't so furtive now that he was lying on the ground with his sneaky nose broken, complements of the Clown Prince of Crime's fist.

The Joker also liked the fox because of how the animal created chaos wherever it went. If anything, a fox was a better animal to be associated with then the rabid dog the media was pinning him as.

"Thought you could, ah, catch me unawares," he muttered gleefully, eyeing his bruising fist. "Sneaky fox though you were, you should have, aha, not tried to jump over a rabid dog." The Joker smirked and spun an unopened switchblade around his fingers. "Now, what to do, what to do, what. To. Do. With. You?"

He grinned, macabre scars stretching wider when the sneak at his feet groaned into awareness. The fool had chosen the wrong house to rob, and wound up in the green-haired villain's hideout. Run-down though it was, the Joker still prided himself on his ability to keep it hidden. Now the fox had come in and ruined it for him.

He told the man so, smacking his lips at the end of his sentence.

"So," he said slowly, enjoying the look growing in the thief's eyes. "What am I going to do with, ah, you?"

Fear, pure immobilizing fear made the man look like a broken-nosed fox caught in front of a group of hunters. The Joker enjoyed that look, basking in it. Then an idea struck him, and the switchblade snicked open.

The man on the floor saw his grotesquely painted face leering down at him, teeth reflecting in the dim moonlight. He could see, just past the shimmering knife in the clown's hand, a shining beacon of hope; the Bat-signal reflected on a cloud. The faint hope he felt was quelled instantly at the Joker's next words.

"Wanna know how I got these scars?"
