Disclaimer: I do not own Fringe. If I did the show would NOT be cancelled. Damn them!

A/N: This is set sometime in season 1. Remember that time, when everyone was supposedly normal and we were waiting for Polivia to get together? It seems so far away now.

Longing Glances

Her skin was so smooth, so perfect. She was so intricate and delicate and he feared that a mere tough could destroy her. But his fingers longed to touch, to feel the perfect skin beneath them. She was his goddess, the forbidden fruit that he longed to taste but knew he couldn't. He longed to run his hands through the golden strands of hair that framed her beautiful face, to touch his lips to her own, to claim her as his. Yet she was forbidden, a dream that he never wanted to wake up from. He was in love with her, there was no denying it. He was in love with Olivia Dunham.

Every time he saw her warmth would flood his body, filling him with a sense of hope and happiness which, up until now, he had thought could never exist. He had wondered what it would be like to fall in love and at one stage he thought himself to be in love but, being a con man, it didn't last. Nothing lasted in that life. One day his plans were derailed by an FBI agent asking and eventually conning him into helping her. At first he had disliked her, despised her even but he started to see things in her, things that he had never seen before. They became accustomed to each other rather quickly, knowing when to have each other's backs and when to stay put. Even just little things like how she took her coffee or when she needed a break. It was all very new to Peter. When he first saw Olivia with Ella, he started to fall in love. She wasn't just another cop, out to make his life harder. She had a family to protect, a life. Something he didn't think that he would ever have. And now here he was, staring across the lab at the agent in question while she did paperwork and imagining what it would be like to be with her.

His thoughts were interrupted by Walter asking him to pass the bone saw. Just another day at the lab.

Later on…

Olivia had been sitting in her make-shift office in the lab doing paperwork for the last few hours. She had a headache brewing and was beginning to go cross-eyed. A break was defiantly needed. She grabbed her cup and got up, intending to grab a coffee. She stopped short at the sight of Peter. He wasn't wearing a shirt. Her heart rate sped up and her mind went blank. He was HOT!

She had been feeling things for him for a while now, things that she had felt for John. But she pushed them to the back of her mind. They were partners, not to mention his career choice. It would never work. And even if she did decide that she wanted a relationship with the man, who's to say that he feels the same way? Sure, he was attractive and brave and smart and….stop it. Olivia mentally scolded herself. She should not think about her partner that way. She had to push down darker, lust filled thoughts when she glanced back at her partner. Coffee could wait, she was enjoying the view.
