The path ahead of Alfred was dark, only to be lit up by a small street lamp. It seemed to be cradling a single flame inside as if it were protecting it from the friged outdoors. Snow was falling in bitter gales as the moon set it's gentle glow across the town sidewalk.

Gazing up, he saw the beautiful icy gleam of the night sky, stars lined up in a ring around a almost full moon. The leftover soft clouds perfectly blended in with the dark blue in the horizon to set the perfect winter night.

Next to Alfred, trees shook slighy. Most of them were not able to sway in the breeze because of the frost that stiffend it. He was also careful not to slip in the slush, seemingly because of previous incidents between him and the wet leftover snow.

When this time of year came for most people, it was a sign to lock up and turn on the fireplace. It was a way to be able to cuddle up, to feel the satifying feeling of walking into a warm house after playing the the snow all day.

Peaceful nights out like this were good for clearing his mind. Whatever happened during the day didn't matter so much anymore, as long as he was alone, Alfred was able to slacken after a stressful day.

Maybe winter wouldn't be so bad this year.
